It happened to my Aunt. She was in the shower when she heard a voice saying "something's going to happen now, don't be scared I'm here with you". Next thing BAM the lights go off and she starts screaming at her kids to turn the lights back on but the lights weren't turned off she had actually that second suffered a massive brain haemmoredge (sorry bout spelling) which caused her vision to go completely black. So my cousin rings the ambulance really freaked out and she was brought into hospital and she recovered but said she heard the voice on her way home from the hospital (she was there for 4 months) saying "Remember I'm always here". He asked where the third man was and the two men in the canoe told him they were the only ones in the canoe.
