So life is frail. So it is filled with gore. So creatures live and die in horrible ways. Most people already get it (I say “most” because of course there are always the spoiled and naive bumbling among the rest) – and some upstart “artist” doesn’t need to shove it in our faces to remind us, thanks. Most of us are well aware of the horrors of life in our own ways. I, for one, didn’t see any need in having that kind of thing shoved in my face. And then I looked it up and saw it’s supposed to symbolize something about the, “Creation story”. So wait…random unabashed snuff-style horror = rich symbolism for creation story? Don’t make me laugh.

The movie tries too hard and only ends up being disgusting. It strikes me as if it’s that drunken guy in the corner of the bar who smells like a mixture of B.O. and Jack Daniels, slobbering through missing teeth and winking clumsily through his non-lazy eye at the girls saying he’s “A real artist” with the ladies. Yeah, sure; whatever you say, Begotten. You’re a real artist. Right.

The other videos – those that weren’t ripped down by YouTube (thanks a lot, BS lawsuits and policies) – I perused a little and found bizarre as well. But Begotten in particular I felt I should comment on.

List whatever you’d like, Listverse, but frankly “bizarre” doesn’t seem to apply in the case of Begotten. I think “snuff for the sake of snuff” is more fitting. Thanks, but no thanks.
