I agree that these methods are horrible…. as opposed to garroting, beheading, stoning and all the other forms of “light interrogation”

I take no issue with torture whatsoever. As a matter of fact, I prefer the methods used by the Spanish Inquisition. But I would reserve torture for only a select few. The weaker minded ones will give. You can offer money, convince him/her of the error of his/her cause and even get him/her to defect to your side, and other ways to maintain non-antagonistic stance with them. Remember, in their case, they are bees and you have honey. However, there are the few who actually believe in their cause and will sacrifice anything for it, and are strong minded and resolute. They cannot be bought, they cannot be reasoned with, and they’re determined to not cooperate. This is when I say to use any pychological or physical torture method you can think of. The imagination is truly limitless. Psychological methods are probably more effective and are less likely to result in a false confession, but do what you must. I think we humans should come up with better ideas to deal with people from whom we need to take the information out. Not to torture them, because regardless of however important the case may be, we should not turn ourselves into evil while trying to take information out of prisons or suspects. Respect humans and instead try to psychological convince them of letting out the information. It is difficult, but not impossible.

Please. When they’ve done something that warrants interrogation, tell me, Hollow. That’s like saying that we shouldn’t put anyone in prison. Less extreme, yes, but same concept.

"Stress Positions"… one of my teachers at school used this. O_o If you attended one of her detentions, you had to sit at your desk with your head up and your arms flat on the desk, for twenty minutes. It was agony. Now I know where she got the idea from.

Never do anything to anyone you wouldn't want done to yourself. Each person who will be administering these methods should first be subjected to said methods, may lend some much needed perspective to the situation.

My favorite interrogation technique was used by Charles F. Marshall ('A Ramble Through My War") in the ETO during WW2.
He took high-ranking officers to the enlisted men's mess. When they saw that American privates ate better than German Generals they knew the war was over and started talking.

I bet everyone knew every single one of them before reading this. But most of these are a necessary evil without which it would become virtually impossible to interrogate terrorists. But careful use must be enforced and proper assessment must be done before subjecting any of the prisoners. During the US “invasion” of Iraq (pun intended) innocent people where subjected to these gruesome tortures which were totally unnecessary and was rather done for the heck of it.
