Jeet kune do should had been your no.1 when it comes to effectiveness.
2. Aikido using the strength of your opponent. More better than judo when it comes to throwing.
3. Muay thai or boxing very nice for short range. No kickboxing please that's automatically only an exercise or aerobics.
4. Bajiquan also effective in short range especially the body check.
5. Karatedo very effective when you apply the principles.
6.taekwondo the 45 kick ang the bullet kick nice.
7.eskrima or arnis, it doesn't matter where originates originally the effectiveness is the importance. Ninjutsu is just a myth. Jui jutsu only for movies. Capoiera effective in break dancing. Kempo same as karate principle first. Kung fu, shaolin, wushu, wing chun un effective, a myth, all the same horse stance when a side thrust or kick hits your leg.. Uhmm. This is only my opinion. Effectiveness should be the factor, not the most famous.

Wilson Tran, i want to respectfully submit a correction to your statement regarding Kali/Arnis/Escrima.

Kali/Arnis/Escrima system don't or never used or advocate blocking technique. Instead it employs deflections or counter offense. Unlike other martial arts, before delivering an offense they need to establish defense or blocking first. In Kali/Arnis/Escrima system the best defense is counter offense or deflection not blocking.

I add Kalaripaitu from Kerala because it focuses not only on hand and legs
but the arts of sword, dagger, shield, whip sword and a lot more. And I also
think the Shaolin of kung-fu and Tae-kwon-do are better than karate as karate
is just a street fight art while the other three are FATAL and can only be used
while your life is at stake.

The post is good and you have briefly explained different martial arts. I feel that you have missed out the martial arts called "KALARI PAYATTU", which is a great and old martial art from Kerala, India. It is said that an exponent in Kalaripayattu from Kerala trained Budhist Monks in China secretly to save them from the oppressive rulers which lead to a new style called Kungfu. Kungfu inspired a new martial arts as developed by the Japanese called Karate. So Kalari payattu is considered by many as the mother of martial arts...
