To be honest I feel that going for a meal on the first date isn’t something I would want to do; for me as a women I really don’t like it when someone is watching me eat, I feel so self-conscious and going for a meal at their house is when worse I mean what kind of girl would want to get a take away at their date’s house on a first date? I know don’t but then again I’m not most girls so…..

….this is extremely cliche and unhelpful. Many women in this day and age feel perfectly fine paying for meals. The idea of ‘helping her sit’ is risible. It’s one thing to be polite; it’s another to treat a woman as though she is a child or is more fragile than a man.

As for what to discuss, as long as it’s handled right, exes are ok; it depends on context.

I think honesty, sincerity, humour is important. I am not comfortable with associating confidence with firm suggestions. I am ok with guys confident and secure in themselves such that they aren’t intimidated by me. But I would never be comfortable with someone who followed the points on your list to a t.

just throwing that out there – maybe this works for some people, but I think you’ll find we’re entering an age with a growing number of dissenters to ‘traditional’ dating.

Unless you truly want to take part in conformist social stigma, this advice is legitimately terrible. Most of the advice is simply based on tradition and bull***** rules that somebody made up that not everyone even wants to follow in the first place. Considering that, why bother following any general dating advice? There are too many variables depending upon the person you’re dating to worry about this kind of thing, so there’s absolutely no point to it. Not only that, but the best way to find someone you want to be with, and someone who will want to continue to be with you for a long period of time, is to be yourself. That’s the only piece of advice you should be taking: be yourself. Anything else is you hear is useless trash that you should immediately disregard.

Besides, this list was obviously written only toward men. :/
