Best Albums of the 70s, in order:

Let It Be
Blind Faith
Crosby, Stills and Nash
Bridge Over Troubled Waters
Bitches' Brew
Paranoid
Dark Side of the Moon
What's Goin' On?
L.A. Woman
Who's Next
Pet Sounds
Plastic Ono Band
All Things Must Passs
A Night at the Opera

There's at least one on here that *might* have appeared in 1969; I'm not sure. But even so, I've got a couple of albums on my list no one else seems to have. Ahh well, I don't care. These are MY favorites.

There were just so many good albums in the 70's, it's almost a crime to limit that decade to a Top 10 list.

Leonard Cohen's 1970 Songs of Love and Hate (a standout on this album, in my opinion, is Dress Rehearsal Rag. The song is so emotionally powerful, so depressing, Cohen rarely performs it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNTFqSaFwyo)

Frank Zappa's Hot Rats, which is considered by quite a few music critics as the most influential album of the 70's.

Miles Davis's Bitches Brew (Damn!).

Several of Funkadelic/Parliament's albums (where would hip hop be without this band?). Just listen to 1971's Maggot Brain, for example.

Stevie Wonder's Talking Book is a great one.

There are just too many.

Honestly, I wouldn't expect people to know about this album but Octopus by Gentle Giant was quite a good album. Also, you shouldn't limit this list to just Rock and Pop. There was much more going on in the 70's than meets the eye.
