The Battle of Boridino as shown in the 1968 Russian production of War and Peace (Voyna I Mir) is the most spectacular and fantastic battle scene in the history of film. If I recall, some 120,000 Red Army soldiers put on Napoleonic era uniforms to be extras in these scenes. This was before CGI... all of the people, explosions, and action is REAL. Look on You Tube. Do not get it confused with the American version with Fonda. No other battle scene can hold a candle to this one. Watch it and see for yourself.
