Yes, it’s French and old-ish (1973), but it was a Big Deal when it came out, and food and feasting (well, orgy-ing too) are the film. Anyone who is halfway serious about films knows about it even if they haven’t seen it.

Also, I’d suggest Mystic Pizza, Fried Green Tomatoes and Diner as movies to some degree about food, in deceasing relevance.
