Great list! I'm sure people must have bitch and moaned about why their scene wasn't included but you did call it Ten OF ...not THE Top Ten. Hopefully people would just post their own...

like the opening of The Matrix with Trinity kicking ass and escaping. One of the best movie intros ever.

or the floating fight scene in Inception (which wasn't out when this list was first made)

Indiana Jones highjacking the Ark from a speeding truck full of German soldiers. No CGI for that, baby. Those are real people doing those stunts.

Either the opening or the climactic fight scene of The Wild Bunch. Sam Peckinpah making extreme violence beautiful. Hm, just a couple I can think of...

ROBOCOP! Pick your scene, but my favorite has got to be the unrated version of the ED-209 shredding the hell out of the executive in the beginning of the movie. And of course the scene where Murphy is murdered by Clarence's gang was pretty raw, but again the unrated version is almost a minute longer including a scene with the back of his head blowing apart into the camera. I highly recommend watching the unrated version. Sorry if this was already posted.

I think you missed two of the best:

1) The Patrioit - the scene where Mel Gibson's character and younger sons ambush the squad of Redcoats in the forest taking his older son away as a prisoner.

2) Heat - The shootout in the street between Robert DeNiro's gang and the police after exiting the bank they just robbed.

Too much Tarantino.

Seriously, why is Marvin getting shot in the face even in the movie?

Answer: to set up The Bonnie Situation.

Why should it be in the movie?

IT SHOULDN'T.

It actually detracts from the quality of the movie in a way that is unlike any other movie ever.

Why?

Because of this: Vincent had the gun in his hand, with the gun aimed at Marvin, with it loaded, with the safety off, with his finger on the trigger, with the trigger pulled. All of that was "just an accident". That's retarded. He is a hitman, he can't afford to make mistakes like that. That scene breaks all sense of logic to force out a pivotal plot point in the film. That means that the entire Bonnie Situation is one giant plot hole, and that means that the out of chronology story telling is basically pointless.

Glad to see that Kubrick beat the balls off of Tarantino, because he deserves praise, unlike Tarantino. Also, Full Metal Jacket should get a mention for the suicide scene, and the scene where Eightball and Docjay are being shot a billion times.

As for violent movie scenes, There can be NO list without the lawnmower scene in Dead Alive (braindead), and there can't be a list without the zombie kicking priest from Dead Alive. If you haven't seen them, here are some URLs:
