as my mother used to tell me, “dont live above your means” is a sure way to eschew your self from incurring debts and unwanted or unreasonable expenditures. So we must teach ourselves to have control over our finances and dont make the MONEY control over us. Lets us find ways how money can work for us and not “US” work for the money.

it is everyones dream to have Financial Freedom but it takes hard work to achieve it. i am blogging and making websites in the hopes that it could lead me to financial freedom someday.

I just paid off my credit card earlier this week! Yay, I’m debt free!! Although, I do still live at home with my mom…and drive the same car I had when I was 16…ahem, ahem…the future looks bright! hehe

Another tip for all readers is to find ways to reduce taxes and increase that cheque you get from the government. A good way is to start your own small business. You can write-off things from car expenses, meals, a percentage of your house that is used for office space, etc. Ask a savvy accountant for more info on this.

Careful about only paying minimums on credit cards. I was doing just that a few years ago–paying minimum on two cards while dumping huge payments into a third–and the other two cards decided to kick my interest rate into the default category EVEN THOUGH I HAD NEVER BEEN LATE. A credit counselor told me to always make the minimum payment + 10% of the minimum.

Using this method, I was able to get myself out of credit card debt in about 9 months.

It is often said that to obtain financial independence, all you need to do is save 10% off your income (a little less if you are young and a lot more if you are old).
I saw a fun way to do this on Oprah. Assuming you are making most of your purchases in cash (which could be a good idea if you are prone to overspending), decide never to spend any coins. Just stick them in a ’special’ pocket and when you get home in your piggy bank. You won’t miss them which is why the donation boxes are on all the counters). Once a month break it open and stick it into your savings account. When you have $1000 stick it into a term deposit and when you have multiples of $1000 think hard about how to get that first house. You will be greatly helped in this if you do not own a car, spend on alcohol in bars and clubs, smoke, live at home… Unlike the posting advice above, if you have a like thinking partner this will be obtained quicker. Advice on choosing a partner would be a good list!
