# 8 Vanilla Ice with “Ice Ice Baby”. Ohhhhhh, I bet the rock group Queen and David Bowie we’re just pleased as peach when this musical rip-off, plagiarist, below non-acceptable “singer” made this song and hit the top of the charts. Yet he denies that it was not “Lifted” from the song “Under Pressure” by Queen and special guest vocalist David Bowie. As he puts it, “there is just one little different musical note that protects it from copyright infringement”. What an A**HOLE !!! Vanilla Ice is the reason as to why a bullet was wasted on President Kennedy. I fricken hate that guy !!!! Oh, and by the way, the song “Under Pressure” is a genuine and beautifully written song about homelessness, and not to show off Vanilla Ice’s inflated ego and the tough guy machoism that he sickly exudes.

You have to look at it in the context of the times. The Roger Dean Yes covers from the early ’70s weren’t bad at all compared to most of what passed for cover art in those days. They actually were a pretty good visual interpretation of what the music was like. Unfortunately, by the mid ’70s (Going For The One, Tormato), Yes had gone over to that awful, trendy HipGnosis crap most of the other prog bands were using.

Yes “execrable?” You, sir, are utterly devoid of anything resembling musical taste. I’d wager that your entire music collection is likely composed of what I would consider “godawful crap.”

And Emerson Lake & Palmer? I probably wouldn’t dispute their inclusion on a “10 Most Pretentious Bands of the ’70s” list, but “10 Worst Artists in Music?” That’s so far off base it isn’t even in the ballpark.

As for the rest of the list – while some of the artists actually are talentless, others, like Asia, were virtuoso instrumentalists and could actually write a decent song from time to time – but you wouldn’t know that if all you’ve heard of them is what Top 40 radio fed you.

Kenny G, even though I’m not a fan, doesn’t belong here either. Back in the ’80s, before he discovered that playing elevator music could make him rich and famous beyond his wildest dreams, he was in demand as a session player. I don’t think that would have been the case if he didn’t have the chops. I won’t argue that he doesn’t deserve criticism for selling his artistic integrity for a paycheck (not to mention for his reputedly monumental ego), but, while he likely wouldn’t be on any jazz fan’s “Top 10 Sax Players” list, he isn’t lacking in ability.

But then, how can I take seriously any “10 Worst” list that doesn’t have Billy Ray Cyrus, Ashley Simpson and/or Kelly Osborne on it?
