Just because a president has controversy in his administration does not make him a bad president. #1 was correct but #2 should have been Nixon. Plus, where are all the updated presidents in the 1900s? I sure as hell can find a bunch wrong with them. This is absurd.

Harding didn't choose his friends: They chose him as a presidential candidate for the sole purpose of getting him elected and having him sign off on deals that would move certain oil fields in California and Wyoming to departments controlled by his pals, who would then sell drilling rights to their buddies and make lots of cash. Harding would have rather played poker than be president, and it was the early rumblings of this, the Teapot Dome Scandal, that had him make his famous comment about his friends keeping him up at night.

If there's something hilarious in this, it's that the architect of Harding's election, Jake Hamon, didn't live to get his spot in the cabinet. Hamon was cheating on his wife with a young hotty, and eventually paid his brother to marry said hotty so she could have the name "Hamon" while the brother hit the road and disappeared. Unfortunately, during the Harding campaign, there was a concern about how this would look, so Hamon was coaxed to reconcile with his wife. Upon hearing of this, Hamon's companion shot him in Ardmore, OK -- she was later acquitted -- and Hamon's future position of Secretary of the Interior was taken by Albert Fall.

Almost two years later... :-)

Grant's time as President was certainly scandal-ridden. Although I can't claim authority here, though, I'd expect that his depiction on the $50 is more for his service in the Civil War than for his tenure in office. After so many generals, Lincoln found the right guy in Grant, and upon hearing complaints of his affinity for drink, asked what brand he liked, so he could get more of it for his generals.

Nixon one of the worst? Hard to say. He did a lot in his administration other than Watergate, and there is evidence to suggest he was set up by rivals. I am not a huge fan, but he was not one of the 10 worst. History will probably put Dubya on this list in his place.

Conspicuously missing are the two dudes who gave us the biggest economic collapses in our history: Hoover and George W. Bush. Sure Coolidge precipitated the Great Depression but it was Hoover's fiddling while Rome burned that sealed the deal.

I vote for Hoover as the worst (as do most historians) with Bush Jr. being #2 and Nixon driving hard to the hole as #3. Reagan, dribbling and drooling on the perimeter but blocked from the paint, would have to be #4. The man had Alzheimer's in office, for gawd's sake. If dementia doesn't earn a top 5 mention on the worst of the worst, what does?

What does this list have in common? Yup, all Republicans.
