Obviously, the author of this list is unaware that the United States government is based on the League of the Iroquois governmental system,whereby power is distributed between a central authority (the federal government) and smaller political units (the states). To get to the level of non-civilization that the author suggests, one would have to go back in time prior to the emergence of what we call the indigenous people of the Americas. Instead of being ignorant, the author could retake the Social Studies class for grades 3-8 in which students learn about Native American Contributions.

A Chinook was always a Chinook. I believe that the breed was created to go along on Admiral Bird’s Antarctic trip. They wanted a biddable, social draft dog that wasn’t prone to fighting to take with them. So the Chinook was created.
I own one and am madly in love with this gentle, sweet breed. They are happy on the couch, yet have as much energy as a border collie, but keep it contained. It is a quiet breed, too. My male was not brought up around children at all, but true to the breed, he is naturally attracted to them – in a good way. There is a saying in the Chinook breed…if you want a guard dog, don’t get a Chinook. They exude sweet. They are easy to train. Coat care is a snap. They love to share your space. This breed is America’s best kept secret and created right here in the USA!

These are some amazing dogs, but they are missing some of the rare/uncommon dogs. The Carolina dog, and the Otter hounds are not that rare anymore. But a great list.
