I'm trying to figure out what it means that I loved Dreamcatcher and that many posters see it as one of Stephen King's worst books. I loved the feeling of connection between the four guys. I think of the people I love and how I may be connected to them at a far deeper level than I'm aware of.

I get so busy at work and the conversations I have with my colleagues stay pretty much on "content" - the work issues that we face. Stephen is helping me see the depth that we all have. And he helps me understand that the fears I have are universal.

I have not read every single comment, so perhaps I missed it, but has anyone read Under the Dome yet? The Stand has long held the top spot as favorite SK novel for me, but it has been dethroned by Under the Dome! FANTASTIC book! (The Stand is still a very, very close second, though!)

Other favorites include the whole Dark Tower series, The Green Mile, Eyes of the Dragon, Duma Key, and Lisey's Story. The book It scared the crap out of me when I was 12. I also really liked The Talisman and Black House.

Just finished the Stand last night, like the Dark Tower series unable to put it down.
Gotta choose between Blaze or IT next (Son's recommendations) although this Long Walk is getting some praise lately.
Of the three would someone recommend one quickly....

I'm almost finished with my first King book, The Long Walk and so far I'm loving it. It's better than I thought it would be. Next on my list is the Green Mile then maybe The Stand. I haven't read a book in about 3 years. I forgot how much I like to read.

I've read almost all of his books over the years. Just started Under the Doom and it's pretty good but not in the Top 5.

IMHO the Top 5 Stories by King.

1. The Dark Tower Series (best in this series The Gunslinger & Wizards & Glass)
2. The Stand
3. The Long Walk
4. IT
5. Christine

@cujo (464): & @chronman23 (465): From a Buick 8 if you haven't read that one yet. It's good.

@cujo (464): I loved Cujo. Great book. Salem's lot is also very good to go to next. Also Pet Cemetary or Carrie.

@chronman23 (465): Green Mile is a good choice and those I listed above. I have most...not all, since some I can't stand like Gerald's Game.

Thanks for writing all these comments everyone. It's been interesting to read them all. I haven't read a book in a few years and I was researching some good books to read when I stumbled across this page. I got a Barnes and Noble gift card for Christmas and I'm trying to decide which Stephen King book to read first. I've never read one but I really want to now after reading this page. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe the Green Mile.

the one thing that sucks about his books is that if you saw the movie, depending on what book or movie your talking about, it kinda spoils it for you a little, I read different seasons in high school and have been reintroduced and began with cujo and finished it in 2 days, i forgot how easy it is to read his shit till you cant see straight. ID LIKE TO KNOW some opinions on cujo, i thought it was really great in its own right, but prob could've been better what do you think i should follow it with?
