Top 15 Best Werewolf Movies

Published on November 27, 2007 - 66 Comments

Horror Movies are a genre that the world seems to be relatively divided on. On one side, you have those that steer clear of those gory, disgusting films like a dose of the plague; claiming outright fright and a simple inability to handle the scenes and sounds. On the other hand are those so deeply invested in the subject as to wait with baited breath for the next fright fest to hit the screens or DVD rack; loving so dearly the bloody visuals and the gut-wrenching soundtrack. Horror has been around a long time, and many stand-outs of the genre have come to really define what it is to be a horror movie: Dracula, Frankenstein, Nightmare Creatures, Slashers, and Aliens. But to me, one of the most horrific creatures to inundate the movie market is the Werewolf. Perhaps it’s the simple fact that you can almost imagine someone, somewhere, afflicted with lycanthropy. Maybe it’s easier to understand the more animal-like behavior combined with such a staunch human element. Whatever the case, werewolves have continued to hold stock in the horror world and will likely continue to do so for future generations. Here are fifteen of the finest films featuring our feral friends.

15. Teen Wolf (1985)

In “Teen Wolf”, Michael J Fox plays a typically morose high school kid who isn’t popular and plays on a terrible basketball team and finds himself going through some rather unusual changes. As it turns out, he has inherited the werewolf genes from his father and is becoming, surprise surprise, a TEEN WOLF! He can’t, despite his best efforts, hide this from his high school friends, and ends up changing in the middle of a basketball game. However, in wolf form he is a star at basketball, as well as at pretty much everything else he tries. Suddenly he is popular and well-known, but does it all come at a price? Oh yeah, he also surfs on a van. Outstanding.

Top 15 Stephen King Books

Published on November 26, 2007 - 339 Comments

I have been a Stephen King fan for a long time and for as equally long as I can remember, typically scared witless from his horrific novels. I used to lie awake nights while racing thoughts of the evil this master of the macabre would put in my head danced around and played havoc with my psyche. Many of his books, in fact the fifteen you see here, have left lasting impressions on my mind and it doesn’t take much to recall their contents and want to read them all over again. Many of his stories have been translated into film. Some have been critically acclaimed like The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and Misery and quite a few have been laughable disasters such as The Lawnmower Man, Maximum Overdrive, and Sometimes They Come Back. But however you know him, from the films or his books, there is little doubt that Stephen is the King at what he does. So, with the newest release of one of his novels in movie form, The Mist, I present you with the top fifteen of his novels. Each is accompanied by a synopsis directly from The Stephen King Web Presence.

15. The Dead Zone (1979)

Deadzone

Waking up from a five-year coma after a car accident, former schoolteacher Johnny Smith discovers that he can see people’s futures and pasts when he touches them. Many consider his talent a gift; Johnny feels cursed. His fiancĂ©e married another man during his coma and people clamor for him to solve their problems. When Johnny has a disturbing vision after he shakes the hand of an ambitious and amoral politician, he must decide if he should take drastic action to change the future.

Top 10 differences between Europe and America

Published on November 25, 2007 - 203 Comments

Though only a stone’s-throw away across the grand Atlantic, Europeans and Americans are as different as night and day. And being anywhere from 5 to 7 hours difference in time, they literally are, too. Back in the days of old when that rag-tag batch of ticked-off Englishmen decided to brave the snarling sea and make new their lives in America, we’ve held similarities close to our hearts. However, times force great changes and leaps in advancement force gaps in our likenesses and make them far more diverse and different. Gone are the days when the ‘New’ Americans would take tea time, instead, we, as Americans, stumbled upon the idea of lunch… similar, but still, quite different. Well, you get the idea. Here are ten (of many, as we all know) ways we, as Americans, are different from our jovial brethren across the pond: the Europeans.

10. Government

Houses-Of-Parliamen

Our Governments could not be any more unalike if we purposely attempted to create them so. And, as it turns out, we (the US) kind of did. Not happy with the persecution the European Government was dishing out to specific religious groups, the original Pilgrims who ended up on American shores would eventually go on to pass down ideas for a new government in their new land - despite the fact that they persecuted people in equally (if not worse) ways than the nations they left behind. Here are the governmental differences spelled out as clearly as possible:
