With Christmas fast approaching, I present our second gift related list. Everyone has to buy for at least one guy who has everything so I have pored over the Amazon catalog to bring you a bunch of gifts that I think most men would enjoy. I have tried to select items that are varied in price to cater for all budgets. Remember – you only have 5 more shopping days before Amazon won’t be able to deliver in time for Christmas.
10. Apple Airport Express $90.72

AirPort Express with AirTunes brings your iTunes music in your Mac or PC into your living room — or wherever in your home you have a stereo or a set of powered speakers. All you have to do is connect your sound system to the audio port on the AirPort Express Base Station using an audio cable (included in the optional AirPort Express Stereo Connection Kit) and AirTunes lets you play your iTunes music through your stereo or powered speakers — wirelessly. I have three of these in my home and I couldn’t live without them now – best of all you can use them from a Mac or PC and it is as simple as selecting which airport you want to play (including multiple) out of from a menu that appears in iTunes. It also includes a USB port for wireless printing.
9. Remote Controlled Bugs $24.95

These bugs are exact replicas of those found in nature. They take two AAA batteries and are driven by a branch-shaped remote control. What guy wouldn’t want to have some fun sending bugs around the house to scare everyone?
8. Pocket Compass $14.10

This is obviously a geek’s toy. When I first moved to London, a pocket compass was the thing I needed most when getting around. No batteries required – just Earth’s magnetic field! This is a heavy-duty metal lensatic sighting compass with luminous points and liquid dampening.
7. Planisphere Watch $49.95

A perfect gift for your favorite astronomer! The face of this wristwatch is a mini planisphere that really works! Rotate the faceplate to any time and date and it displays a map of the constellations visible from mid-northern latitudes. Luminescent background glows in dark for 2 to 3 hours. Rubber/steel band adjusts to any wrist size. Face diameter, 1-5/8″.
6. An Incomplete Education $23.10

Think of this book as one-stop shopping for your brain. So you never studied philosophy? Turn to page 306. You can’t tell Keats from Shelley? Page 195. Spanning 10,000 years of knowledge, featuring 3,684 things you should have learned but didn’t (or forgot somewhere along the way), it covers world history, art history, economics, literature, science, political science, religion, psychology, even film (what’s the big deal with Citizen Kane? See page 174). The updated edition of the 1990s bestseller.
5. Newton’s Cradle $9.69

This is the classic “desk toy”. Using Newton’s third law has never been this much fun! Swing one ball and one ball on opposite end swings in response. You can spend hours playing with one of these things – I know, because I have!
4. Classic Gumball Machine $29.99

This would look great in an office or any space set aside for the guy with everything. The design is classic red. I received a gumball machine when I was younger and I loved it – it is a brilliant gift idea.
3. The Outsider $5.50

A young, amoral bachelor called Meursault kills an Arab on a beach in a fit of heat-induced rage. At his trial, the fact that he did not cry at his mother’s funeral is a central piece of circumstantial evidence. He is sentenced to death, which merely serves to confirm his conviction that the universe is indifferent.
This book is very popular with guys and has inspired a film: Lo Straniero (1967), by Luchino Visconti. It was also the inspiration for the Cure’s Killing an Arab, as well as, some say, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
2. Popcorn maker $59.95

There is nothing better than sitting down with a big bowl of popcorn and watching your favorite movie. This popcorn maker is dishwasher safe and made of stainless steel. It certainly beats standing over a pot on the stove. For a double-banger gift, why not throw in item number 1 as well…
1. Complete James Dean Collection $27.49

What guy has not once in his life wanted to be like James Dean? He was suave, kind, and masculine. This collection includes all three films that Dean starred in: Rebel Without a Cause, Giant, and East of Eden. I own all three and they are brilliant movies. Each film is presented in a double DVD special edition, and includes new and vintage documentaries, commentary tracks, publicity materials, and even the infamous “Drive Safely” commercial spot Dean filmed shortly before his death in a car accident.

A gift for the guy who has everything: Black Socks. Or at least so says Paul Macartney on Radio 2 last night
Another book in the vein of number 6 that is great is ‘A Short History of Nearly Everything’ by good old Vill Bryson. It’s really interesting, and covers loads of sciencey type subjects, from the big bang, evolution, and the lives of some important scientists
dragirurihide you beat me to it! i was about to post about A Short History of Nearly Everything, great book.
I love it.
The COMPLETE James Dean collection.
Includes every movie he made!
ALL FREAKIN’ 3 OF ‘EM!!!
The Dangerous Book For Boys is on the shelf now. I want it for myself but I’m not allowed to buy anything at Christmas time. For myself that is…
i thought the camus book was called the stranger…great book though
Just make sure he doesn’t already have one of these things. You know, since he has everything.
$60 seems a lot to pay for No.2 when I can make amazing popcorn just using a wok…
Oh, and evan, just think of my name as ‘dangor’ with a hide of iron
Yarr: I bought The Dangerous Book for Boys for the president of my company last year and he said it was his favourite gift. He carries it with him everywhere!
I haven’t heard of the Dangerous Book for boys – perhaps that, along with the one on my list and “A short history of nearly everything” would make a good first 3 items on another list of “books for geeks” or something. What do you think?
A real good book for the typical man is “The encyclopedia of things that never were”, it’s a book about all things fictional, mostly monsters of lore(kraken,cyclops,kobolds…..)it has plenty of pictures and just enough reading to keep you intrigued but not enough to bore.I highly recomend it.
Yarr: hehe – at least it comes with lots of extras
It says a lot that with only 3 movies he is such an icon. Mind you, I included a woman with only one film as the best actress in all history on the Top 10 Best of the Best in Movies.
Zombie Survival Guide. My (now) fiancee got it for for my birthday, was awesome. Also the “Giant Swiss Army Knife” is pretty funny if a little pricey at $999. Google it, it’s a sight to behold.

*When I tried to post this originally it timed out, and then it wouldn’t let me re-post. Odd.
*I triple checked it and it hadn’t showed up, so I reposted but NOW it made me look like an idiot.
Hey…I want some of these and I’m not a guy and I definately don’t have everything!! =p Good list!
Oki. I think I had some inspiration on the creation of this list. Why? Cause this is the exact question I asked in the forums. Half of the stuff on this list he has (or a better version like the Gumball machine). The other half is stuff he would hold no interst to. lol. On this list the only thing I could see that he would like would be the bugs. Now that is a cute idea. I ended up getting him the side art he needs for his arcade TRON.
Ravyn: haha – you are indeed the very reason for this list
Kelsi: Me too! I’d really like #6 and #10.
jfrater: Next list… for women who have everything!
Jamie: I am glad to be of inspiration when I can. I like the list.
I want the bugs damn it
Can’t go wrong with nice watches.
Isn’t the Camus book called The Stranger? No matter the title, it’s a very thought-provoking read.
James Dean is awesome, too…
kevo and noah: the camus book is titled “L’Etranger” in the original French. It can be translated as the stranger, foreigner or outsider. I think “The Stranger” is the title most often used … at least that’s the one I remember reading way back when.
Thanks for the list. I’ve been pounding my head aginst the wall trying to find him a gift. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you…
No, James Dean is great, it’s just all in the wording. I already have his flicks, so not such a great gift for me.
I don’t know if the Dangerous Book is necessarily geeky. It’s full of all kinds of interesting and actually useful information.
I’m totally buying it on the 26th!
Maybe a list of books for the ‘young at heart’ or something. Geeks read Linux guides and laugh at things like w00t. I’m totally not that guy. I have a dope samurai sword and a toy monkey that humps the lamp. I have a giant poster of Jason Voorhees in my office. The figures from “Where the Wild Things Are” are on my mantel. The Dangerous Book is perfect for a guy like me. I’m a dork, not a geek.
I would strangle the person who bought me The Outsider/The Stranger (I read it as The Stranger).
Way ahead of you there:

I have some gifts in mind but I ‘m afraid this guy who have everything have it, so let’s forget about it.
That is pretty funny they put the Outsider by Camus up there because that was one of the few books that I know all the guys in my senior literature class enjoyed reading
lol…well I can honestly tell I’ve been around this site for a long long time and never saw this list! How come! OMG! Oh well I’m just feeling bad because I really, and I mean REALLY needed this list last christmas
My bf is one of those guys that has everything, and it is just so hard to get him a present!, and all the cool ones are wayyyyy expensive lol, so this list was perfect… lol oh well I ended up giving him a perfume lol…to add to his luxury brand ones =_=” but mine was cheaper….. ~_~” ..oh well I’m looking forward to see a list like this for this Christmas…I’m out of ideas and already planning to buy him a jewelry item….
suave, masculine, and gay.
What do you give the man with everything? Antibiotics.
i love this list because i have most of the things featured here or have given away some 2.
I really need that watch!
I’m getting my Dad a Neuroactive bike – it exercises your brain and our body simultaneously. Amazing stuff, and I don’t know ANYONE who has one: http://www.marblesthebrainstore.com/software/comp067.html
As a guy I can tell you can never go wrong with a good perfume.
Perfume
that book by camus is called The Stranger, not the outsider
Omg! Thanks for this article, just in time for Christmas!
and everything can be bought at Amazon?…..interesting
I really wish that “the modern mans guide to life” was still in print and being updated. I still refer to my copy from the late eighties.
What gets you excited about life?
I love this book
The COMPLETE James Dean collection.

What do you get the man who has everything? Penicillin isn’t it? Here’s an updated list of what to get the man who has everything in the UK.
