#7 reminds me of how I learned about the word $hit. I was in 1st or 2nd grade and someone on the school bus said to someone else “hey, you say “sh” and I’ll say “it”. The other guy wouldn’t do it, but I said I would, and start saying “sh-it” over and over. My friends told me I would get in trouble but didn’t tell me why. That evening we were in the car when I said to my sister “You say ’sh’ and I’ll say ‘it’” Of course my mom goes “WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?”

Actually, Mark (#66) the bar that was the inspiration for Cheers is the Bull & Finch Pub on Beacon Street in Boston, across from the Boston Common. They have a second location on Faneuil Hall (also in Boston). The name is syndicated and there are several “Cheers” bars in several city airports in the US, as well as one in London.
