I’ve owned The Encyclopedia of Things That Never Were since I was a boy and I still read it. The cover is trashed, some of the pages are stained, but it’s not going to leave my library until the paper crumbles.

I think that of fictional works all men should read Fight Club. Now, I’m not a man nor have I ever been one but I would not believe it when I realized how much manly angst I had after I read this book. Its like a crazy road to releasing all of the masculine rage in your body. And, its totally anti-political which I figure is something that all you strong lads like lol

any of the Douglas Adams books would be a good guy read also, the hitchhiker’s guide( all 5+ in the “trilogy”) and “long dark tea-time for the soul” and “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” and the all time great guys book “on the road” by Jack Kerouac. “The Tai of Pooh”, awesome. and i think it goes with out saying, but im a guy so i will say it anyway, J.R.R Tolkien. nogh said.

I wonder why men can’t just read normal books. They aren’t as illiterate as many people seem to think. Novels can still be interesting to them, even the intelligent ones.
And secondly, why can’t women like these books?
Yay for stereotypes!

But yes, Bryson’s “A Short History of Nearly Everything” is an incredible book that I would recommend to anyone, not just men. If you’ve ever wanted to know about anything, it’s the perfect book to read. I’ve read it numerous times and I’ve loved every read-through.

I also agree with adding Fight Club and World War Z.

I think every guy should read “The Prince” by Machiavelli. I read it when I was in 10th grade and it changed my life about how to communicate to the masses, and the art of politics.
