number nine is not evil. neither is number 8!

I was 6 & my father used to work out of town. Christian missionaries descended on our house for 4 weeks using every trick in the book to make us convert to Christianity. Money, blackmail (something might happen to my father), abuse of Hinduism. Finally, when they told my mom that they were going to sing in Lord’s name, she had it. She said that she was ready to pick up the bible and learn it if the Sisters picked up Bhagavat Gita and learnt it. We never saw the 2 ladies and the 3 gentlemen again. I know of at least 10 other folks in my school then & later who were subjected to similar tactics.

I am not a scientology fan – far from it. Just wanted to point out that Christian missionaries aren’t any better.

AHHH!! Scientology! When I was a junior in high school, I did a report on various religions. I went to the Scientology center in San Francisco (where I live) in an attempt to conduct some sort of interview. HUGE mistake. There was a tiny elderly woman sitting at the desk in the front, which I’m assuming was a ruse to make people feel more comfortable. It’s just some harmless old woman or whatever. Anyway, I never got an interview, BUT, they did pull me into the back and try to give me one of those “stress tests” with the meter and all, but I wasn’t having it. They camp out on Powell street with these meters, preying on these oblivious eastern European tourists who have no idea what the fuck is going on. Regrettably, I gave them my full name when I went in for the “interview”, I never gave them any contact information, though. Long story short, they somehow obtained my address, and have been sending me little odd pieces of mail ever since. That was 5 years ago.
