if you want to know the morals and reasons behind these stories why not try reading them in context, that is, read the entire chapter that contains the story. most of these are easier to understand when you know what came before and after the story. also, if you are not aware of the customs and values of the time, most of these crazy-cool stories will go over your head. finally, the Lord says "my ways are not your ways."
so why bother trying to figure them out?
ps- to all you christians or "christians" who wrote in response to this list, we are not called to defend God or His word, we are called to love like Christ loved. so get all of those knots out of your panties and start loving. i know for a fact that the Word says we will be persecuted for our beliefs. so just suck it up, we don't have time to waste arguing. put that energy into action and LOVE!

LMFAO i'm a christian but some of these are pretty funny... i'm in the car with my parents, i'm thirteen, and supposedly sooo innocent. so i'm sitting here laughing my ass off and my parents are like, "what's so funny?" and it's not like i can just say "i'm reading about david cutting off ppl's foreskins to get a girl" but whatever, you totally made my day.

just want to point out that the story of balaam's donkey is misrepresented here.

balaam was gonna curse israel, riding his donkey. his donkey could see the angel that was there to kill balaam before he could curse God's ppl. the donkey balked, leaned against a wall, and squashed balaams foot. balaam got pissed and started hitting the donkey, and the donkey talks to him (many belieAnve the angel was speaking thru donkey) wanting to know why balaam was hitting him when he was trying to save the ungrateful idiot. then the angel appears, and the rest is history ;)
yea, i know you probably think it's just made-up, but still, i want to give the bible's side of the story (:

There is no judgement but by our righteous GOD. For those who mock the Bible it's clear you did not absorb the written Word by faith, but by a secular and literal view. A cynical (or mock) approach to Biblical text will not be easily understood without the Faith and wisdom needed to understand how it impacts your spiritual life. It's not uncommon to view some of it's history as odd at first, like many others have said, it was a different culture, but I believe its also to teach patience and encourage us to seek God. Especially in the New Testament (Covenant, as Christ died for our sins and was resurrected), there are many anologies and parables. Be sure to pray for wisdom, pray in faith and ask that the truth of His word be revealed. Try to remain in context and don't be so quick to judge the message without fulling understanding it. I am a Christian and still pray whenever I read the Bible to ensure I am not allowing a fallen, worldly view to obscure the light of God's holy word. Don't be fooled and don't let the devil rob you of your chance to have salvation. Your mind may not understand yet (we all start somewhere), but your soul thirsts for it. If nothing else, read the verses & chapters surrounding what you have read on the list, just to try and understand.

Ok, so I just sat here and read everything...all 1385 posts. Some were very informative, some were biased, some were insulting, some were funny.
Couple of things to point out....one post VERY early on...nobody ever addressed...the one where it was stated that if it wasn't for Christianity we wouldn't have any holidays and get to take off work.
First...the purpose of a holiday is NOT to take off work...it is to respect the meaning of the holiday. Second, the majority of the Christian holidays are placed at specific times in the Gregorian calendar because it was the path that the Catholic church took in order to convert the pagan people as the Catholic faith travelled the earth. It is much easier to convert someone to a new way of thinking if you take a lot of their ideals/holy days and rename/redescribe them.
The other thing I would like to point out is that it isn't our right as humans to judge our fellow humans. We are all here together, we should respect each others beliefs, we don't have to believe them, but they do deserve our respect. That's all. Have a great night.

Oh, and with Moses and his son, God was going to kill Moses because Moses had not obeyed the only Law he had given at the time. Circumsize your children at eight days of age. Moses failed to obey the law and infuriated God. Zepporah having been brought up by a priest knew the law. And one can suspect that she had told moses earlier but he did not listen.

lol, i dont think this was here to mock the bible, its simply a few stories that were found and were put down as their bare selves. By that i mean they were put down as how they happened and not along with their significance. and that can indeed be very,VERY strange. Like the #10 with the bears, they were eaten because they mocked Gods prophet. Why God sent bears to eat them? Even i dont know.
