I think the tenth lady on your list should be the late Elaine “Spanky” McFarlane of Spanky And Our Gang. Her voice rivaled that of Mama Cass. In fact, she was asked to sit in and perform with the Mamas & The Papas shortly after Mama Cass died. She had a very crisp and powerful voice.

Glad to see you’ve got Melanie on here, she is a ridiculously underrated talent.
One lady which must make the list is the unsung first lady of rock: Skin aka Deborah Dyer.
Never has such a unique, emotive voice been discounted with the rest of the Brit Rock melange.

It’s completely ridiculous that nobody in America is familiar with the Danish band The Savage Rose, one of the greatest bands of all time. Pretty sure their lead singer Anisette would blow away any of the ladies on this list.

I think Lara fabian deserves to be in this list.. I think she’s underrated to be famous only in french-italian speaking countries. She deserves Celine Dion’s star sttus..

I’ve always been a huge fan of Judie Tzuke, and never understood why she never caught on stateside. Kate Bush has a little but is not nearly as beloved here as in England. I adore Jane Siberry, Lene Lovich and Siouxsie Sioux, also. But above all, where is the justice for RICKIE LEE JONES ?!?
