Wow, surprised to see the Spirit on the list. What a horrible racist comic. Blackie, the Spirits sidekick, everyone seems to forget about him. Scrooge has great storytelling and is well drawn, but a great literary graphic novel, come on.

I’m shocked to see Maus on here. Granted it’s one of my favorite graphic novels, I never expected to see it on a list anywhere.

I’ve used Maus in my classroom to instigate the students (7th to 12th grade) to read. I’ve turned non-readers to become readers using some of these books. My fave case was one of my high school juniors who was a proud non-reader, went from reading Maus (and pleading for part2) to happily reading “Night” by Elie Wiesel.

I hate how I always see people suffering from cancer and people just use that as propaganda to make people stop smoking.How about we put up a book that talks about how republicans that donate to the troops allow a soldier to carry a gun and shoot a little girl and then kills himself when he gets home.
