Top 10 Ways You Can Help Listverse

Published on February 27, 2008 - 80 Comments

Since starting this site 8 months ago, the administrative load has increased quite a lot. We are now receiving over 2 and half million pageviews a month and as a result of this, the administrative tasks have increased - this has meant that I am not able to comment as much as I would like on the lists. So, this has prompted me to put together this list of things you can do to help the site out - these are all things that will make my job easier- giving me more time to comment and write lists!

1) We make a small amount of money off each item you buy

Top 10 Steps to Making a Perfect Roast Chicken

Published on February 27, 2008 - 80 Comments

As you know, we have done many food related lists - but one thing lacking which I think would make a great list, is a step by step instruction on preparing a single meal. If this list goes down well I will consider doing more in future to help people who don’t do a lot of cooking to build up a repertoire.

This meal is a full roast chicken with roast potatoes, broccoli, and carrots. It is a French style meal - each component of the dish is cooked according to the traditional French method. Do not be afraid - it is very easy - I have especially chosen easy vegetable preparations. This meal is for four people but you easily refrigerate the left-overs and have them later if you are cooking for fewer.

10. Go Shopping!

Groceries

First off, you need to go shopping. This is what you need to buy (prices are estimates):

Top 10 Action Movie Face Offs

Published on February 26, 2008 - 197 Comments

What’s better than a movie with an absolutely awesome hero or an absolutely awesome villain? How about a movie that features both? When the movie doesn’t revolve around one character, but two strong characters fighting one another, that’s where some films really get a chance to shine. Here are ten of the best movie face-offs in Hollywood history.

10. Superman II 1980

Zodbig

Superman vs. General Zod. Although not the best Superman movie, General Zod and his henchmen might be the most ruthless and impressive villains that Superman faces in any of the films in this series. It’s hard to argue Superman as not being an awesome hero, but the three outlaws led by General Zod are equally intense villains, and gave the man of steel all he could handle in this great movie face off.

Over the last few months we have gone through 30 of the worlds greatest mysteries but what we haven’t covered are ancient mysteries. This list aims to put that right! Here are ten great unsolved mysteries of science. Do you have a theory that might solve one of these mysteries? If so, tell us in the comments!

10. Rongorongo

Rongorongo5

While many people know of the Moai of Easter Island, not that many people know of the other mystery associated with Easter Island. ‘Rongorongo’ is the hieroglyphic written language of the region’s earlier inhabitants. Rongorongo is strange in that no other neighbouring oceanic people used a written language. It appeared around the 1700s, though was unfortunately lost after the early European colonizers banned it because of its ties to the native islanders’ pagan roots.

Your View: Do Aliens Exist?

Published on February 25, 2008 - 446 Comments

This is a topic that we have long wondered about - do aliens exist and if so have they communicated with us or attempted to? Everyone has a strong opinion on this topic so I expect you will all be very vocal. It would be great if you can give examples from your own life about the moment you started to believe, or stopped believing.

When answering this question, be sure to give us your reasons for your answer - it gives us a chance to debate!
