Hi Hippie. This is a list with a lot of ifs, ands and buts. I would think that Rush is No.1 just for the fact of their popularity and it is a fact that they are the leading exponent of all entertainment of the country of Canada, them being from Toronto. But I agree with you with Cream and Hendrix as I would look upon them as the pioneers of the "Power" trio. Read Eric Clapton's autobiography which is self entitled "Clapton". You won't believe how that man has gone through hell and back. Its also sad that all three members of Jimi Hendrix's trio are all have passed on. Cream was in my opinion THE bonafide first supergroup and was immensely influencial. I read an anecdote about Ginger Baker, the drummer for Cream where he would begin a drum solo in concert and the other two members, Clapton and Bruce would leave the stage, leave the venue, find the closest bar or tavern to the venue, have a couple of three quick drinks and return 30 minutes later and Ginger would still be doing his drum solo. And I just recently read an article in Rolling Stone magazine that Ginger is living a reclusive life in South Africa and continuing his love for the game of Polo and has around 40 polo ponies and continues his drug habits with an inhalor, much like people with asthma would use, except the inhalor he uses is filled with a morphine vapor......try to figure that one out
