I love Close To You and Wishing Well.

And Telstar! It’s awesome, I can listen to it over and over. It really has that vibe of 50s World Expo when technology was going ahead in leaps and bounds and the world was at people’s feet.

I'm kind of surprised to see "Eve of Destruction" and "96 Tears" on here. My friends and I are all 14-18, and are pretty familiar with it. We were even showed the video of "Eve of Destruction" in history in our Vietnam unit (oh, debates in that unit were so fun I was always a hippie).

When I saw the title of this list my first thought was: I wonder if "Sukiyaki" will be on it. And there it is! Thank you! This is not only a gorgeous song, but the singer's death is as poignant as anything ever recorded. Knowing that his commercial flight was going down, he wrote a letter to his wife in his last moments. The letter was later found when authorities combed the wreckage and given to her.

Incidentally, his daughter grew up to be a famous singer in Japan and one of her best songs is a remake of "Sukiyiaki." (Under the song's real title, of course!)

Love, love, love “96 Tears!” It’s one of two songs on here that I know (the other is “Wishing Well,” which I HATE!) which surprises me, because I was born in 1984.
