1.) A welfare state will only cause inflation… hurting first the people who need it the most. Combine the welfare state with a warfare state (which both Democrats and Republicans support depending upon who is in office) and you have an economic disaster. .. one that our kids, great grandkids, etc. will pay heavily for and almost assuredly receive nothing in return.

2.) I think that it is fair to say that I should not have to pay for, with the fruits of my labor, benefits for someone’s grandmother, underemployed child, etc… anymore than they should have to pay for mine. And honestly, more people would be inclined to help the needy if the government would not force us to do so by taxing our income by nearly half. In fact, the poor might not be so poor if the income tax was abolished. We managed before the income tax just fine.

Bottom line is it is not sustainable. Why should we take care of the poor and elderly now at the expense of everyone in then future? I’m a very compassionate person and always find a place in my heart to donate, give, etc. to those who are in need despite being unemployed and paying nightmarish prices for commodities. I think that we’ve all forgotten about the innate goodness in most people.

If the government would butt out of this process… people might step up and do the right thing. But you can’t shove morality down people’s throats. It only serves to make people hostile toward one another. just my humble opinion.
