What about sugar causing kids to become hyperactive? This myth has been proven to be untrue through numerous studies. In one particular study I remember, children were divided into two groups. All of them were given a sugar-free drink, and one of the groups of children's parents were told that their child had just had a sugary drink. Then, all of the parents were told to grade their children’s behavior. Not surprisingly, the parents of children who thought their children had drunk a ton of sugar rated their children as significantly more hyperactive. This myth is entirely in parents’ heads. People continue to believe it because the times when kids get sugar the most, are also times when they are most likely to be excited and get hyper (Halloween, birthday parties, etc.) It is sort of like a placebo effect, if you will. Seriously! Go ahead and research it! Interesting, huh!?

I try to get plenty of rest. I drink water and hot tea with honey. I also take over the uetncor meds to ease the symptoms. My grandmother used to give me Hot tea with honey, lemon and whiskey. I'm not sure it worked, but it tasted great and helped me sleep. If I have a fever of more than 99.7, I'm probably contagious. I stay home until the fever is gone.

Not a very smart one there, are we Joe C? I know you wrote that response several months ago and will not see mine, but seeing how you are responding to a comment from YEARS ago, I suppose it doesn't really matter.

Though, you being bothered by this "myth" bothered me. Yes, a cold is caused by a virus, but to say that the difference in temperatures and humidity has no effect on ones immune system is extremely ignorant. You don't think your body has to work any harder to generate heat in the cold? Or that if one's hair is wet that it's body would have to work even more due to the moisture transferring the heat away faster?

No.. You're probably right and bodies are impervious to fluctuations in their comfortable operating conditions and can function perfectly in any climate and situation.

You understand so much its almost tough to argue with you (not that I really will need to…HaHa). You definitely put a brand new spin on a topic that's been discussed for decades.
