I found out recently that “bald” originally may not have meant “hairless” but something closer to “white patch” or “streaked with white.” So some animals with white areas on the head are bald in the older sense, while a man was called bald because the loss of hair (on a light skinned man) leads to a white head. Over time the definition changed .

Also what’s all this talk about pandas? the article did not mention them. Although apparently they are bears again now. Except the red panda. They aren’t bears. They’re just cute.
