Though it hasn’t been invented yet, but I would like to see a microwave oven that will accept metal when cooking. For example, a metal bowl of leftovers that you want heated quickly and just pop it into the microwave……..Just a thought.

How come no one mentioned the obvious #1 invention? Or have i not scanned the comments well enough?
It’s the thermo flask (or -bottle for americans).

As our great former german chancellor H. Kohl (his family name translates to cabbage) once stated, this is the single most impressive device ever invented by man (some women were probably involved too).
During winter season his devoted wife Hannelore would fill the flask with hot, delicious tea when sending him off to work. In the afternoon, when pouring a cup of tea out of it, it would still be well heated.
Then, in summer time, she would fill in some nicely cooled soda. Again, when using it during the day, the drink would still be chilled.
But how, for heaven’s sake, the chancellor would ask totally baffled, does the thermo flask know what time of the year it is?
Truly mysterious.

Making fire was mankind’s greatest invention. Without fire, mankind would have gone extinct by the predators. It gave protection and warmth in stone age. It gave humans means to produce metallic weapons. It gave humans visibility in the dark. A world without electricity or fossil fuel can survive. But a world without fire cannot survive longer.

Banjamin and Faraday also done pretty well before electricity too. So its not Electricity. It was creating fire the mankind’s greatest invention. Without fire, mankind would have gone extinct by the predators.

Obviously electricity since it has given us so many of our other greatest inventions. No need to delve further on that subject.

But other than that, I’d have to say the camera. It’s truly mesmerizing to be able to capture a moment in time and be able to view it once again in the future, when that moment has long passed.
