well i cannot say whether i am or not but i can actually do extremely complex calculations in my head so i think i might be able to consider myself a mental calculator
i think i really am because when i took my ap calculus class a couple years ago (i'm just starting college XD) i was able to do every single problem in my head without the use of pen and paper (cept maybe to get the word problems straight)

Oh by the way, i don’t know if it’s part of the same thing, but when a TV is on, even if the brightness is completely off, and theres no volume, i can hear the tv, it makes no noise when it interchanges from on to off, and i’ve tried it with 3 different televisions, but I can hear it when its on, like a constant static in my ears but as soon as I turn it off, its completely silent.

@Mike. Well, there's 3 ways you can test whether you're a supertaster.

1. (Taken from the BBC's test) Place a piece of paper with a 7mm hole punched in it on the tip of your tongue, and count the number of tastebuds inside the opening. More than 35 means you're probably a supertaster. (If you have trouble seeing the tastebuds, use food colouring and a magnifying glass.)

2. You can order test strips impregnated with a chemical that most people can't taste properly. I won't add a link because it's promotional and I'm not sure what Listverse's rules on that are. Just Google "supertaster taste".

3. And if this isn't enough to satisfy you, you can have a DNA test. These are NOT cheap, and possibly not all that accurate.

Having had your Supertaster status confirmed, you must then send off for a Supertaster costume and begin your new career defending the world from evil and broccoli.

Also, here is a longer article: http://www.tufts.edu/home/feature/?p=tasters&p1=1
