Look up the name Ray Ewry on the Wikipedia. I believe he won 9 Gold Medals in events that have been discontinued. All of them were in Track And Field. The one and only thing that I would like to see happen is a sub 2:00 hour, 26 miles and 385 Meter Running Marathon. I could never figure out why they tack on the 385 meters from and the origin of it. If they eliminated it, of course it would be more attainable.

Hi segue. Its my understanding that women’s boxing is going to be an official Olympic Sport at either the 2012 London games or the 2016 Rio de Janiero games

I’m so tired of the old mantra “You’re not a real kiwi unless you live rugby”. I hate hate HATE rugby with a passion – it’s a boring game, and for what it does to our society. We can only socialize if it’s around rugby; it causes a spike in spousal abuse (numbers turning up to Women’s Refuge the night of a big game); and the lout/drinking lifestyle…gah, it annoys the living spaghetti monster out of me………….

a sport before it can be included in the olympic must be “widely” played in 3 continents. who plays field hockey “widely” in any continent?

including and excluding sports in the Olympics nowadays is very political. imagine established sports like billiards, bowling, and baseball (striped-off) are not included when field hockey and curling (in the winter olympics)are included.
