Now I'd be damned Vitamin C should never have been on this list, vitamin C does not deseve to be treated like this, it has saved humans and other lifeforms for as long as history has been, I'm sure there are millions of other stupid myths you can put on that list and remove the C-Vitamin. Vitamin C makes your imune system stronger and tests have been performed and they prove that vitamin C helps not only in preventing a disease but also it can make your symptoms less. By taking huge amounts of Vitamin C you can actually boost your imune system so that you may avoid getting sick for longer periods of time. After I begun using it myself I have had long periods withouth having just a simple cold, before I discovered and tested it out I was sick atleast once a year. prove me wrong. I take 1000 mg every day now and when I feel a sore throat I up the dose to 2000mg or even 3000mg I advice everyone to do the same, I use esterified Vitamin C btw its a more efficient vitamin C and it doesent go out through you urine as fast as regular Vitamin C. I wish everyone a healthy life.

My Doctor, as well as my aunt and uncle who are doctors, and well known in their fields (to a degree) have all said vitamin C helps. It boosts the immune system, but also helps to prevent a cold.

They might be wrong. Just saying.

Casein is found naturally in milk products, and facilitates a more robust and thicker mucous. I would like to know if the list maker has any disclosures to make regarding the dairy industry.

<i>122. Dave - "“Once the cold hits, you are better off taking painkillers and waiting it out.” Are you selling cold medication or just purposely trying to give out horrible information?"</i>
That's stated because most people will go to a doctor and demand an antibiotic. That won't do anything because they are designed to destroy bacterial infections. Colds are viruses and thus far, we have no medication that can destroy cold viruses. Your only options are 1) take pain pills to suppress the symptoms and wait it out or 2) wait it out without the pain pills. It's nothing more than comfort level.

<i>123. UNKNOWN - "a doctor told me that milk causes more congestion because of some kind of acid in it…"</i>
Milk has a ph level of 6.7. While that is on the acid side, neutral is 7 so it is barely acidic. By congestion (which has more to do with the respiratory tract) do you mean some digestive system issues? In regards to ulcers, milk may provide temporary relief by coating the stomach but the presence of milk proteins will stimulate digestive enzymes, actually creating a more acidic environment so it's actually bad in the long run. As far as Milk increasing congestion or other respiratory-related problems, they aren't correlated.

<i>124. UNKNOWN - "Also when it is winter i seem to get a cold a LOT more often is it because the virus is more active during that season?</i>
In the wintertime, most people are crowding together or staying indoors in an attempt to stay warm. This also increases one's chances of coming in contact with an infected person. So yes, the cold virus is more active in the winter, but not because of its natural cycle but because it has "more food" or rather, more available hosts.
