I used to be a fan of Green Day and Nickelback, and they are putting out some definitely suckish stuff now that some people definitely like more than it deserves to be liked. (I blame the fans of pop and the mainstream fatheads. But then again, I blame them for almost everything.) I mean they play music for a living. If people didn't overreact to artists there would be no fame, no celebrities, and we would look at them as bums. For every over-marketed artist there are literally hundreds more who sound EXACTLY the same, sometimes some of them are better. But they don't get the financial backing because they don't "look" sellable. The superficial wins over talent every time. And you're arguing about which one of them is best. Sorry, had to rant. I worked in A&R for a major music distributor for 8 years, hired to find the best of the best, and left because I knew the best would never see the light of day.
