The author Patricia Cornwell has recently published a blow by blow description of Jack The Ripper. Its the closest depiction of who he was and what he did. The book is easily available at your Barnes & Noble or Waldenbook.

Wow, what an interesting and disturbing list. It still amazes me that they have such good pictures of the victims of such a sensationalized murder case. Also, in response to Jim C, most of these are US centric…but I'd argue about #6. Sure, the Salem witch trials happened in the US, but I think it's an event that people from all over the world find interesting and significant.

The Jack the Ripper case may never be solved. There have been so many books on it and I believe an opera as well. The actual number of victims are a matter of serious conjecture as well, as some sources detail Jack’s rampage went on well past 1888; some stating that his run ended in 1892. I’ve also read an account (very questionable and unreliable) where one member of Scotland Yard was positive he knew the Ripper’s identity but was persuaded to keep silent because the killer was linked to the Royal Family. All that is known is that he was left handed and had extensive medical training.

that comment was unnecessary and completely nonsensical. If you have a problem with comments which, by the way, are opinions people are free to express, then make your argument.
What is that kind of comment going to say to someone when you disagree with his view? He might assume you make no sense and therefore, your opinion isn’t valid.
Next time, rather than spoiling a so far mature thread of comments, make your point as others have done and if someone disagrees, sod them.
It is the internet after all, and these people are nicknames and avatars at best, strangers at worst, and you shouldn’t take it so personally like that.
