Well, our tap water is recycled sewage. I prefer buying a couple of big bottles at the store and reusing them. It tastes much better than the tap. Then again, I do live in Namibia. And disposable plates are very useful for large groups.

Whoever wrote this list is wrong on the diet products one. You think that by taking diet powder you cause anorexia? No. The way to acheive Anerexia is not eat. Diet powder gives you all the vitamins and proteins your body needs without putting too much fat into your body. You also state that by taking protein powder it substitute a meal. This is true, however it does contain around 3 times as much protein than a steak, so really your "eating" more. Finally, you say that you should moderate your diet, by this you mean eat less. Woudnt that be more likely to cause Anorexia? In truth its better to eat more food. Not junk food like chocalates but fruit, veg, fish, meats and milk. Eating foods like these, training hard and drinking protein shakes is the best way to lose weight and PUT ON MUSCLE!

I have to agree with the dishwasher being almost useless. Washing dishes by hand is always faster and doesn't require a ton of electricity.

The only thing I've used a dishwasher for is sanitizing the catbox. (Gee, sure hope nobody's renting my former apartment.)

10. Disposable eating implements are far more practical for occasionally hosting large groups of people or situations where you're eating away from home, such as camping.

9. Disposable razors are quicker and easier than straight razors. There's a reason many men used to go to a barber for a shave.

8. Isn't drinking a shake in place of a meal eating less?

7. As someone who's had bronchitis multiple times, I'm quite certain expectorants are more effective than your down home recipe.

6. Agreed on the uselessness, but I'm sure there are at least 10 products more detrimental to society.

5. This one's pretty bad.

4. Actually, if you have an irregular schedule and are unsure which nights you'll have time to cook, a microwave's quite handy for thawing frozen meats or vegetables to make homemade meals. They're also a convenient way to reheat, thus avoid wasting, leftovers from homemade meals.

3. Again, useless, but hardly detrimental.

2. Sugared cereals are nothing new and didn't used to result in obese kids. Perhaps the problem's a little more complex?

1. Where's the logic in blasting an alternative to tap water in the same paragraph that seems to acknowledge that municipal tap water often contains a known carcinogen?

Also, I'm not an anti-smoking nazi, but any 'worst products' list that fails to include cigarettes fails.

microwaves, i believe are good, due to the fact that you can heat up already cooked food (cooked the night before, not bought from a store) in 2 minuets rather than waiting for the oven to heat up, it also very good in work enviroments.
i have only ever used disposable cups, plates and knives at picnic and at parties with a large amount of people.
bottled water is good if you forget to bring a bottle. there is a place in australia whichhas completely banned bottles water from all shops, they have set up bubblers and you can enter any shop, get a cup fill it with water for free, re-fills are free aswell.

Another thing. The chemical found in the bottled water has been associated with mind control experiments conducted by the South African Army against terrorist suspects in Johannesburg.
The chemical was added to the food given to the terrorists to make them more compliant to subliminal suggestions being beamed out over the prison compounds radio system.
it was proved that in 73% of cases, the prisoners obeyed the subliminal command.
Who knows what sinister plan was afoot by adding a similar chemical to a consumer product.

Agree with some points on this list, sleeping pills for kids never heard of this and it sounds a very wrong practice.

Bottled water has its place if you are in some African and asian countries if you do not use this I can assure you you will be in a mess. Much easier and more convenient than puri tabs and you cannot always a filter will work, especialy the portable variety.

Disposable razors, great things.

Microwave, superb device. Fish and scrambled egs especialy, also good for softening bread.

Bottled water is definitely a waste... Brita filters are a big waste also, though... you can actually filter your clorinated taste without the Brita.

Just get a jug of tap water, put it in the refrigerator for 6 hours without a cover, and voila, the taste of chlorine is gone.

Sheesh. What a lecture. sorry, but I cook potatoes in the mw. They take an hour or more to cook in an oven. If you learn to use one properly, you can make all sorts of good meals from raw materials, such as vegetables, in a microwave. And I've tried to use Tylenol to remove aches and pains: useless. It also does not allow me to sleep at night when I'm coughing. I could go on.
