Having one genre become more present than another does not cancel the other genre/s out. Both science fiction and fantasy can mix, as can action, adventure, horror, etc.

Also, considering a space opera can be part of science fantasy, which is part of the science fiction genre, it can therefore, by default, be considered science fiction (among other things).

1st movies in a "serie" are always the best. The rest of them always show a terrible lack of imagination... almost quite ever often as it happens and happen too much actually. Never trust a number 2 or 3 or 5 or whatever.
I really enjoyed "Slaughterhouse Five", as it was so off-the-wall. And I never even read the book. Perhaps I should have.

"Logan's Run" reminded me of a futuristic version of "The Fugitive". I believe there was a short-lived TV series based on the concept.

Where's "Soylent Green"? Set in a dystopian future, it may end up being very prescient. After all, 2022 is only 12 years away. Will life once again imitate art as it did with "The Prisoner"?

"Superman" struck me as being far more a fantasy than hard-core science fiction.

The original "Star Trek" was my second favorite TV program (after "The Prisoner"). However, that first motion picture sucked; the successors (particularly the even-numbered entries) were far superior.
