I should point out to recent visitors that this list was made in early 2009. By the end of 2009, Brian O'Driscoll was crowned internationally as #1 player in the world by a number of sources. Ireland rose to #3 in the IRB rankings.
Right now: IRB rankings as of December 2011:

1. New Zealand
2. Australia
3. France
4. South Africa
5. England
6. Ireland
7. Argentina
8. Wales
..

These are the most realistic IRB rankings I've seen actually. This is pretty much how it is right now. New Zealand, Australia, and France are the best. End Of.

God bless Rugby! I couldn't agree more with "Blue"! This is a sport of heroes, a brutal war of gentlemen, no rest, no paddings, no helmets, no cheerleaders, no beer adverts, no Janet Jackson, no mercy. Only warriors playing to win or to die trying. 80 minutes of fast brutal and unstopable struggle. And athletic carnage that ends with emotive accolades and handshakes from both rivals.

Regarding some negative coments about the Argentina's "Pumas", the most painful one was about us being "lucky". Believe me, if there's something that doesn't come into account in the Pumas achievements, is "luck". The first rugby match played in Argentina was in 1873, in 1910 we played our first international match against The British and Irish Lions, but till this day Rugby is an amateur's sport in our country. No local league, no government's help, no rugby fields, no rugby in schools, no nothing. It's an elite sport played by amateurs who love rugby more than their own health. That's why our guys cry when our antenm is played before every match we play in the RWC. They cry because they build their way up to there with their own bare hands and souls, alone. Doing their daily jobs and playing during the weekends, no one choosed them, they choosed themselves and worked hard to be the best of the best. We are at the other side of the world away from the heart of Rugby, that's no lucky at all. Just recently after our performance in RWC 07' our players started to be more recognized in europe and to become professional players. In Leistner Irish called Contepomi "Dr. Phil" Because he actually is a doctor who worked in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. For them that maybe it's just a funny little pun, but for us means something different. It means all that human struggle and hard work behind every one of our players.
We don't want anything for free, our guys worked and bleed their souls and hearts out to reach that 5th place in the IRB ranking, and to read that "they were lucky" is like being spit in the face. GO PUMAS GO!

No mention of Irelands Legend Ronin O'Gara then English man?

Ireland destroyed Australia in todays WC match. Over powered, put played and out classed. We save our best performances for the big games.

Good luck to all the teams in the WC this year. Battles are fought on the pitch in Rugby, not in football street brawles or internet chat forums.

Conclusion: if it wasn't for the amount of games played between the Boks and the Blacks in the last 16 years (almost as many as in the hundred odd years before that) they would still not have surpassed the boks as the top nation. over and above that, the boks would've doubtlessly increased their lead a hell of a lot if not for a ban during the eighties where we had players like Naas Botha and Danie Gerber in probably the most exciting backline the boks had ever fielded, fronted by a forward pack that was near to one of the best bok packs ever.

I'm sick of bad research! no doubt the Blacks have been the team of the last two decades, but the Boks dominated the near hundred years before that, it seems like these lists are compiled by wet behind the ears rugby supporters. It was only in the mid nineties that the Blacks became the team with a winning record against all, before that it was always the Boks!
