I find this article an interesting read, but thin in consistency. There is much more to be considered to make an educated comparison between the true stories of the suggested figures, and the life of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, the author is making the assumption that Christ did not exist, until after His birth in Bethlehem. That’s an inaccurate supposition that erroneously skews any similarities, and their comparison to the Life and Times of Jesus.

Was God alone, when Earth was created? The translation of Genesis 1 from ancient Hebrew, tells us unequivocally, no. In Genesis, the Hebrew word used for God is Elohim. Elohim can be singular or plural based on the corresponding verb used. Genesis 1, tells us, it is meant to be plural. Consider this (NIV used for simplification):

Genesis 1:1 - "In the beginning Elohim created the Heavens and the Earth." It’s not yet clear whether it is intended to be singular or plural. However in Genesis 1:2 (We see the introduction of the Holy Spirit) …, and the ‘Spirit of God’ was hovering over the waters. Elohim is further shown, clearly to be plural starting in verse 26.
26)" Then God said ‘let us’ make man in ‘our’ image, in ‘our’ likeness,… ." The plural words ‘us’ and ‘our’ refer to Father and Son. We know this because The Holy Spirit has never appeared in human form, and Jesus, the Son, in place of His Father, made each of the public appearances noted in the Old Testament. We are told by Jesus, no one has seen the Father, except for himself (see John 1:18 and 6:46, for reference.)

Therefore, verse one tells us that in the beginning the Trinity created the Heavens and the Earth. That reveals that God, Son, and Holy Spirit have been here since the genesis. The origin of the Genesis story dates back to the beginning of the Earth, 4.54 (+/- 0.05) Billion years ago. Written, historical documentation exists dating back, as early as 1200s BCE, which is much earlier than the existence of any real people offered in this article.

Since Jesus is the only figure mentioned in this article, to have fulfilled all of the prophesies in Isaiah, to date, it would stand to reason, He is the true Messiah. I remember, when I was a child in the 1950s, Preachers touted the over 4,000 articles of evidence/proof of the existence, journey, and miracles of Jesus Christ, the only Son of God. Today, due to persistent archeology, over 2 Million exist. That’s more than enough to convince most people.

Isaiah ~ 900 - 700 BCE - made several prophesies. The first were about the birth of Christ, which happened exactly at the time and as prophesied almost 800 years prior. Several more prophesies were directed toward His life and death, and all were fulfilled.

Now, let’s look at the historical evidence of the characters represented in the article. I assert, all similarities between any of these figures, and the Son of God, Jesus Christ, with the possible exception of Buddha, are merely coincidental. Continue reading, and see what you think.

Buddha ~ Lifetime 563 – 483 BCE. We have proof of his existence. However, since the prophesies of Isaiah were written 900-700 BCE, before the life of Buddha, it’s thought his knowledge of the writings helped to shape and color his life and philosophies. Naturally, there would be some similarities between his life and Christ’s. It should be noted, circumspectly, that Buddha was not able to fulfill the prophesies, where Jesus did.

Krishna ~ Worship of Krishna dates back to 500 BCE, where he existed as the complete avatar, per Gaudia Vaishnavism. Krishna is thought to be an historical figure in Hindu philosophy and theology, but there is no proof to date, that would validate his existence.

Odysseus ~ A Greek mythological god said to have existed around the time of the Trojan War, in the Bronze Age. There is no historical proof of his existence.

Romulus ~ A mythological Roman character, born the twin of Remus. Their Vestal Virgin, mother conceived the twins by the god Mars and demi-god Hercules. That doesn’t sound like Immaculate Conception. There has never been proof of their existence, historically.

Heracles ~ a Greek mythological hero, said to be the son of Zeus and Alcmene. There has never been any evidence to substantiate his existence, historically.

Glycon ~ a hand puppet shaped like a snake was created 1500 BCE by Alexander of Abonutichus, per satirist Lucian, who called it a hoax and a cult. His documentation around 160 CE, is the only written record in existence.

Zoroaster/Zarathustra ~ ESTIMATED dates of birth between 6,000 BCE and 100 BCE, though the language of Zoroaster, Old Avestan, was not used in the Gathas and Yasna Haptanghaiti until 1200-1300 BCE. So, this one is a spoof. Obviously, no historical evidence exists.

Attis of Phrygia ~ a character said to be a Greek invention. No historical evidence.

Horus ~ a mythological Egyptian god depicted as a Falcon-headed man. There is no historical proof that Horus ever existed.

All existing historical evidence validates Jesus Christ as the only Son of God. Buddha was a wonderful and wise prophet, and all these mythological characters make for great and adventurous stories, but Jesus Christ still holds the honor of being the Son of God and Son of man. May your journey be blessed!

No sir...you are wrong. There is NO historical evidence of Jesus...not even of David. The one small reference supposedly made by Josephus was later proven to be forged and edited.

All religion is myth..built upon myth..built upon myth. If it weren't for the decree of Constantine, the world of Christianity would have become the world of Mithraism. Much of the myths go back to Zoroastrianism and to Egyptian mythology.

Grow up, mature, focus (inotherwords utilize your frontal lobe) and face reality.
