well thats just wrong, considering british food and american food is very similar. i mean this by the way we have adopted other nations traditional dishes and turnt them into our own. i can't think of one american signature dish that actually has any kind of real flavour and is any less plain than the plate it sits on.
also it really doesn't rain that much in britian, in fact the august that just went by in 2011 didn't have a single drop of rain fall in the borough i'm from, in britain!
to be honest us brit's are just as guilty at making misconceptions about things like that. for example, we think all your food consists of is either extremely expensive fine dining, huge portions of fast food, doughnuts, muffins and FAT!

"During the winter the average temperature can become bitterly cold (between 0 and 6 degrees C)"

Now, I don't know everyone's definition of "bitterly cold" but 32 degrees Farenheit (0 degrees C) just doesn't seem "bitterly cold" to me. Now 0 degrees Farenheit - THAT'S bitterly cold.

Scottish money isn't "legal tender" anywhere - not even in Scotland.

The only legal tender money in the UK is from the Bank of England.

However, Scottish money, by convention, is accepted throughout Scotland. It's not uncommon for places to issue their own currency, e.g. the pink pound, casino chips, gift vouchers. As long as the buyer and the seller both agree to the transaction, you can pay for something in pink elephants if you like.
