What do some of these people expect,if you go to Beirut,it’s one of the most dangerous places on earth for kidnaping,you go to Iraq,as a civilian working for the Americans or any other organisation from the west expect danger,if you go to coumbia and start *****in people off tour gonna get hurt! I know most of these situations involve normal people doing normal things,(like going to school for instance) but whether your a missionary,contractor or whatever youre doing,just take a second and think,is where I’m going and what I’m doing there going to 1.upset the wrong people 2.have these people ALLREADY been upset by people like me 3. IS THERE APOSSIBILITY OF ME GETTING KIDNAPPED AND HELD HOSTAGE BECAUSE OF WHO I AM?! I would suggest to to anybody if the answer to any of these is yes then it’s your own stupidity that has got you into the situation in the first place…I am in the British army,so know all about the kidnap threat in dangerous places,however,the difference is I have lots of men with lots of guns to back me up.

I agree with 99% of this website’s lists but I have to take objection to number 8, The Iran Hostage Crisis. It was not a “diplomatic crisis”, it was an act of terror, perpetrated by out of control barbarians, not “diplomats”.
