Bambino Curse. October 25, 1986. The Boston Red Sox vs. The New York Mets. Game 6. One strike away from winning the World Series for the Boston Red Sox. Shea Stadium Marquee sign inside the stadium says "Congratulations, to the Boston Red Sox, 1986 World Series Champions." But wait a minute, (and I don't know the exact order because it happened so fast). Mets are up in the bottom of the 10th inning. Hit, another hit, walk, wild pitch, hit, wild pitch, walk, hit, so forth and so on. Mookie Wilson up to the plate, the score 5-5. Mookie hits the ball. A simple routine ground ball to First baseman Bill Buckner. A sigh of relief. But OOPS !! It goes between his legs. The Mets runner scores from third base. The Mets win and go on to win game 7 to win the World Series........I remember the following to this day. The brand of TV I was watching it on (Zenith, 25"), the brand of beer that I was drinking (Budweiser, 12 oz. cans), What I was eating (cheddar cheese and crackers), the day of the week it was held on (Sunday), The address as to where I was watching it (175 Pleasant St., Apt.2A, Concord, N.H. 03301), the name of the friend I was watching it with (Mark Klein). What I was sitting on (a couch) the length of our stunned silence and not moving an inch (about 25 minutes), the amount of empty beer cans thrown at the TV Set (countless), and how many more cans of beer we're bought afterwards to drown our sorrows (many, many more !!) I was only 15 months old when the tragedy of John F Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 so I don't remember, but I certainly remember October 25, 1986 as the most sorrowful day of my life.

The Socceroos curse shouldn't be in there at all. If they were cursed in 1970, how do you explain that they reached the next World Cup in West Germany? The rest of the list might have been better if it had not only featured American teams (the only exception shouldn't even be in the list anyway).

It's called The 7 Curses of Cleveland Sports, it's like what George Carlin said about The 7 Curses you can't say.

The Sports Illustrated Cover Jinx is nothing more then regression to the mean. To get onto the cover of Sports Illustrated the team or individual must be playing at the top of their game, whether or not they get to the cover it is very probable that their performance is going to fall off.

There is also the curse of Bear Bryant. Bear was the football coach at the University of Kentucky at the same time Adolph Rupp was coaching basketball. The university gave Bryant a Zippo lighter for Christmas; they gave Rupp a Cadillac. Bear left and UK hasn't had a winning football team since.
