I’m sorry, but i think you’re very shallow. Why Gandhi reminds you of MJ i can’t seem to fathom. Surely Gandhi has GREAT accomplishment for his people. I dont know about michael jackson though. The problem with us peolpe is this: once we knew something so negative about the person, we seem to forget ALL of his positive side and what has he done, his contributions and the change he has made to us or his nation at least. People are people, we are all flawed. Start looking at the good side, which is very uncommon.

And arguably helped create the atmosphere wehre the Great Powers, despite their noble rhetoric about every country habving the right to self determination and to live in peace from its neighbours, all shockingly turned a blind eye in 1860-70 when the Papal States, the ninth largest country in Europe, was invaded by aggressive militaristic neighbour without any provocation, and 99.9% of its territory stolen without compensation, countless churches and monasteries, schools and convents forcibly closed etc etc.

Guido (11 July 11) correct except for one point. The baptism was VALID sacramentally but it was still illegal under both Canon law and Civil law, which state, then and now, that a child must not be baptised, even at the point of death, without the explicit or at least presumed consent of at least one of the parents. No doubt all the babies your mother baptised were the children of Christians who she could fairly assume had would want the baby baptised or at least had no objection to it.

I believe the servant girl who admitted performing the valid but illegal baptism of Edgardo Mortara, was tried, convicted and punished for this offence.
