In the words of Swiss journalist and author, Roger Du Pasquier “The West, whether Christian or dechristianised, has never really known Islam. Ever since they watched it appear on the world stage, Christians never ceased to insult and slander it in order to find justification for waging war on it. It has been subjected to grotesque distortions the traces of which still endure in the European mind. Even today there are many Westerners for whom Islam can be reduced to three ideas: fanaticism, fatalism and polygamy. Of course, there does exist a more cultivated public whose ideas about Islam are less deformed; there are still precious few who know that the word islam signifies nothing other than ‘submission to God’. One symptom of this ignorance is the fact that in the imagination of most Europeans, Allah refers to the divinity of the Muslims, not the God of the Christians and Jews; they are all surprised to hear, when one takes the trouble to explain things to them, that ‘Allah’ means ‘God’, and that even Arab Christians know him by no other name. “
Misconception: All Muslims are Arabs
The common image of a Muslim is a turbaned dark Arab man with a long beard. However this image is part of the minority of Muslims. Arabs make only 15% of the world’s Muslim population. As a matter of fact the Middle East comes in third with East Asia coming in at first (69%) and Africa (27%) coming in at second. Another common misconception is that all Arabs are Muslims. While the vast majority of Arabs are Muslims (75%), there are many other religions that Arabs practice including Christianity and Judaism.
Misconception: Muslims Hate Jesus
There are many similarities between the historical references of Christianity and Islam. Many people are amazed to find out that according to Muslim belief, Jesus is one of the greatest messengers of God. One cannot be a Muslim without believing in the virgin birth and the many miracles of Jesus Christ. Jesus is also mentioned in many verses of the Quran and is often used as an example of good virtue and character. However, the main difference between Christianity and Islam is that Muslims do not believe that Jesus was God. Pictured above is Jesus in an Islamic portrayal of the last judgement.
Misconception: Children have no rights
Children, according to Islamic law, have various rights. One of these is the right to be properly brought up, raised, and educated. Islam encourages children to be brought up well because it is the responsibility of an adult to raise his child to become a moral and ethical adult. Children must also be treated equally. When giving financial gifts they should all be the same amount and there should be no preference among them. Children are even permitted to take moderately from their parent’s wealth to sustain themselves if the parent declines to give them proper funds for living. A child is also not allowed to get hit in the face or hit by anything larger than a pencil.
Misconception: Islam is intolerable to other religions
‘Kill the infidel’ is the phrase many people believe is the ideology that Muslims have towards the non Muslims. This, though, is not a correct portrayal of Islamic law. Islam has always given respect and freedom of religion to all faiths. In the Quran it says “God does not forbid you, with regards to those who fight you not for religion nor drive you away out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them, for god loves those who are just.” There are many historical examples of Muslim tolerance towards other faith. One such example was when the caliph Umar was ruler of Jerusalem from 634 to 644 AD. He granted freedom to all religious communities and said that the inhabitants of his city were safe and that their places of worship would never be taken away from them. He also set up courts that were designated to the non Muslim minorities. Whenever he would visit holy areas he would ask for the Christian patriarch Sophronius (pictured above) to accompany him.
Misconception: Jihad means to fight for the sake of god
The true Arabic meaning of the word jihad is struggle. However in Islam it is often used to describe the striving in the way of god. There are many forms of jihad but the most important ones are Jihad al-nafs (jihad against ones self), jihad bil-lisan (jihad by being vocal), jihad bil yad (jihad by using action), and Jihad bis saif (jihad by using the sword). Each jihad is ranked differently and it was reported that Muhammad returned from a battle and said “We have returned from the lesser jihad (going into battle) to the greater jihad (the struggle of the soul).” This means that a Muslim struggling against himself and his soul is more important than the jihad of going into war. Another misconception is that only when a person dies in war does that person becomes a martyr. This is, however, false and it is believed that anyone doing anything for the sake of god and is killed becomes a martyr. A person who dies while performing pilgrimage in Mecca, a woman who dies while giving birth, or even someone who dies in a car crash while he was on his way to the mosque are all considered martyrs.
Misconception: The Prophet Muhammad was a pedophile
While it is true that he married a girl that was at the age of nine that does not constitute pedophilia. Historically, the age at which a girl was considered ready to be married has been puberty. This was the case in Biblical times, and is still used today to determine the age of marriage in many parts of the world. This was part of the norm and is not something that Islam invented. The girl he got married to had reached puberty 3 years before marriage. It is upon reaching the age of puberty that a person, man or woman, becomes legally responsible for their actions under Islamic law. At this point, they are allowed to make their own decisions and are held accountable for their actions. It should also be mentioned that in Islam, it is unlawful to force someone to marry someone that they do not want to marry. There is no indication that the society at that time criticized this marriage due to the girl’s young age. On the contrary, the marriage was encouraged by the girl’s family and was welcomed by the community at large.
Misconception: Muslims are savages and barbaric during war
Quite the contrary, when it comes to the conduct of war there are ten rules that every Muslim army must obey:
1. Do not commit treachery
2. Do not deviate from the right path
3. Do not mutilate dead bodies
4. Do not kill children
5. Do not kill women
6. Do not kill aged men
7. Do not harm or burn trees
8. Do not destroy buildings
9. Do not destroy an enemy’s flock, unless you use it for your food
10. When you pass people who have devoted their lives to monastic services leave them alone
During the crusades when Saladin defeated the franks he honored the defeated Frankish army and supplied them with food and during the third crusade when Saladin’s enemy king Richard fell sick, Saladin sent him a gift of fruits and horses.
Misconception: Women have no rights
The image of a woman wearing a veil from head to toe, a woman who gets unfair justice or a woman who is not allowed to drive is an all too familiar notion when it comes to women treatment in Islam. And while there are Muslim countries in the world that do implement many harsh rulings against women, this should not be portrayed as Islamic law. Many of these countries have cultural differences that go against the teachings of Islam. It should be noted that during pre-Islam Arabia women were used for fornication only and had no independence. The birth of a daughter in a family was considered humiliating and the practice of female infanticide was uncontrolled. When Islam came to being, verses in the Quran condemned the practice of female infanticide. Islam gave back many human rights to the woman and Muhammad(s) was even reported saying that “women are the twin halves of men.” A Muslim woman is allowed to reject and accept any suitor for marriage and has the right to seek divorce. There is nothing in Islam that forbids a Muslim woman from exiting her house and is allowed to drive. Also in regards to education, a woman is obligated to seek knowledge and it is considered a sin if she refuses.
Misconception: Islam was spread by the sword
Historian De lacey O’Leary states “History makes it clear however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of the sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians have ever repeated.” There is no record in history that shows people being forced by sword point to convert to Islam. When Islam spread through countries they would set up private churches and synagogues for the non Muslims they were governing and because of the good treatment they had received they themselves would convert. If one considers the small number of Muslims who initially spread Islam to the west all the way from Spain and Morocco and into east from India and China one would realize that such a small group of people could not force others to be members of a religion against their will. It is also interesting to note that when the Mongols invaded and conquered large portions of the Islamic empire, instead of destroying the religion they adopted it!
Misconception: Muslims are terrorists
This is by far the biggest misconception of Islam, given unfairly by stereotyping and the public image that the media gives. Has anyone else noticed how when a specific group of people attack another group of people it is labeled as a ‘hate crime’, but when a Muslim opens fire on anybody it is quickly regarded as ‘terrorism’. Many political dictators and officials or extremist groups use the name of Islam as a strategy to garner followers and attention when many of their practices go against the true basis of Islam. The media has also portrayed Islam as a cult or a club where if you join you become a terrorist and that is now part of your agenda. However all over the world people practice Islam in the true form and use it as a way of life. There are many verses in the Quran that go against the idea of terrorism. Some of these verses include “fight in the way of Allah those that fight you but do not transgress limits for god does not love transgressors.” This basically means do not fight except in self defense and even in doing so do not go beyond defense. Another verse states “if they seek peace, then you seek peace,” which means do not attack people for no reason or kill innocent people. There is nowhere in Islam, whether it be in the Quran or the teachings of Muhammad, that promotes the killing of innocent people. Pictured above is a conference of Muslims against Terrorism.

No matter the age of puberty, marrying a 9 year old is still pedophilia, child molestation and abuse. SICK.
Interesting and well written list. However, most religions, including Islam and Christianity have been twisted and made to serve a bunch of jerks who want to bend the will of others to their rigid mindset. (Is that the same as wanting to control the world?)
The crusades did not just happen, the inquisitions did not just happen. The Beirut bombing did not just happen. 9-11 did not just happen. These all occurred because evil men wanted to to destroy and control others. The countries that practice rigid Sharia law treat women and children like animals, and there is NO justification for any of this.
The Quran is a great book, as is the bible, but it is the actions of men that are not great.
I am a militant agnostic: I don’t know, and either do you.
“While it is true that he married a girl that was at the age of nine that does not constitute pedophilia.”
I’ve never posted here before, but this statement is just too ridiculous not to comment upon. Marrying a NINE-YEAR-OLD does *not* constitute pedophilia? The reasons given are: a.) she supposedly hit puberty, and b.) the culture at the time did not consider it pedophilia.
What a culture chooses to label something (or not label something, in this instance) is irrelevant; the man slept with a NINE-YEAR-OLD. I don’t care if she got her period, I don’t care if that culture (like countless others, including, of course, many non-Islamic cultures) is so f*cked-up that they think a grown man having ***** with a NINE-YEAR-OLD is ok, the facts remain the same: she was NINE years old. If that doesn’t constitute pedophilia, I would hate to consder what does. Five years old? Four? Oh wait, as long as they’ve got their period it’s A-OK.
Political correctness can serve a lot of necessary purposes, but excusing pedophilia as simply “part of a culture, therefore it’s ok” should generally not be one of them.
The comments on this list are just bizzare.
***** with a nine year old is SICK!
Thank you soo Much for the List
well i was enjoying reading the comments before it turned into a really silly argument there at the end.
i think it’s important to remember that some of the verses to abrogate others, they were revealed at different times. God was instructing Muhammad while responding and reacting to the things that were going on around him at the same time. Hence the verses that call for peace and others that call for violent action. This not only applies to violence and self defense… there are contradicting verses about the use of alcohol as well.
i think the veil is widely seen as a horrific punishment and burden on women to people in the west but i’ve read articles by muslim women who say that it helps them feel more comfortable in public. they can walk down the street and men or would-be attackers can see that they are devout women and so leave them alone.
the qur’an doesn’t call for a burqa. it calls for the hair and bosom to be covered. we ask our girls in american public schools to cover their bosoms, right? and covering up in the desert sounds smart to me what with all the sand and sun.
i understand the sensitivity felt in the west when discussing islam but as others have said, it truly is a case of a few bad apples ruining it for the majority.
the hateful comments about muslims, jews and catholics are just unnecessary.
@oouchan (154): Sure, I like tea.
Gimme a freakin break. Nice revisionism..
Fantastic list. I myself never took the time to fully understand the islamic religion or community. I knew that not all of them were terrorists; just a small, small percentage. I mean, muslism are probably the most intolerated, prejudiced people in America today. The media has slandered and destroyed their peaceful image, and replaced it with violence and barbaric actions. Isn’t one of the first words learned is “Salam,” which means peace?
Definitely going to share this list, it’s eye-opening.
Let’s get an atheist list next. I’m dying for a good believer / non-believer debate.
@What? (72): I stand by all my previous comments – I don’t consider myself fickle. But I do consider myself fair and this submitted list was well presented and interesting – thus I felt it worth publishing. In all fairness I do think that some items turn a blind eye to reality but I knew that the majority of comments here would balance things out in a good way (which has happened) because most of our commenters sre intelligent and objective.
Of all people I would have thought you would be pleased by this list – instead you merely wish to use it against me. That is unfortunate.
THE AGE OF MARY, MOTHER OF JESUS, WAS 12 WHEN SHE MARRIED 90 YEAR OLD JOSEPH!! JOSEPH WAS FORTY WHEN HE MARRIED MELCHA(ESCHA), THEY LIVED FORTY NINE YEARS TOGETHER AND HAD 6 CHILDREN… AFTERWARDS HE WOULD MARRY MARY!
HOW CAN A CHRISTIAN SLANDER PROPHET MUHAMMED AFTER READING THE ABOVE??
WE ALL HAVE TO LEARN TO STOP JUDGING EVERYTHING BY MODERN STANDARDS!!!
What the heck are you talking about?
excerpts from the “peaceful” religion (Quran)
ANNOUNCE PAINFUL PUNISHMENT TO THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE (9:3)
O Prophet! urge the believers to war; if there are twenty patient ones of you they shall overcome two hundred… (8:65)
Surely the vilest of animals in Allah’s sight are those who disbelieve (8:55)
The Quran in Sura 2:228 says:
. . . Wives have the same rights as the husbands have on them in accordance with the generally known principles. Of course, men are a degree above them in status . . .
NICE!
@jfrater (169): Glad you popped in. I wasn’t going to dignify What?’s post. What a way to turn it against you.
BTW…are you going to remove the troll’s comments above? The ones he hijacked our names for?
i think i got all the different religions mixed up… but i’m sure some of those misconceptions are correct in other religions, just can’t remember what, i’d appreciate if you told me where the misconceptions came from =)
@Moose (82): I absolutely will be writing a list of misconceptions about the Catholic Church
rest assured
@mastermind357: Haven´t heard that before? Please could you give me some historical evidence for your comment or are you just another troll that seem to be littering these comments. Sorry if your not.
Didn’t take long for the comments to devolve into a bunch of monkeys on a keyboard did it?
That said:
@Nicosia (121):
A woman from work just saw that and was talking about it. She said it is violent, but wonderfully done. Her husband also works with us and is pretty quiet and reserved and she said he couldn’t stop talking about it for hours after. I’m interested in seeing it. I’ll let you know if I do.
@ Jfrater:
I agree with oouchan (172), someone used our names to say stupid things!! Those comments should be removed! I didnt write comments 140, 147, 150!!
Rushfan: Not everywhere, a common mistake. There are progressive Muslim countries too, where stoning is not a way of life. Much of what is considered religious stupidity is no such thing – it’s just stupidity. How’s about Penis curses? and killing of Albino’s in Africa? It’s ignorance disguised as Religion that causes the grief. My personal experience with Muslims has been uniformly wonderful. Because of course these folks aren’t ignorant – they know better. It’ll come. Also Rushy it depends where you live eh? Ask some of the Jehova’s Witnesses how much personal freedom they have. And the crap that their women are supposed to put up with or turn the other cheek to? Also pretty sure that it wasn’t Muslims that killed 6 million people not that long ago. Muslims do not corner the market in barbarism.
Every religion has shed blood because every religion believes that they’re right and the rest of the world must join them or be terminated. Is there another name we can give to the extreme-Islamists who beat their women, take away their rights, cover them head to toe, and kill infidels other than Islam/Muslims? Then the “good” Muslims can be happy, and the extremists can meet in a conference center to come up with a new name, and then we can bomb it?
I really enjoyed this list. My brother recently converted to Islam and the rest of my family (all christians) quoted many of these misconceptions to try to divert him. It’s opened my eyes and hopefully will do the same to my family.
Thanks again!
This is bull*****. Go visit Iran and then go on about women’s rights, forced marriages, etc. Go to Saudi-Arabia and see what you get for abandoning Islamic faith. Homo*****uals? Adulters? STONE THE MOTHER*****ERS. TO DEATH. THAT IS ISLAM, ***** YEAH!
And those people who say: “It is the acts of a minority that make the majority of Muslims look bad.” Bull*****. Why doesn’t the majority of those peaceful Muslims take any action? The fundamentalists are the ones who voice their opinions and in general are the ones ruling islamic countries.
Another misconception:
Muslims and Sikhs are NOT the same religion. In fact a Sikh was shot after 9/11 in a hate crime because it was thought he was muslim because of the turbin and beard. Different religeons
troll comments are gone. Quoted comment numbers will be out of sync now sorry – but better that than some of the vitriolic junk that was being spewed!
Wooly – only if you can find a way to do the same thing with bad Christians and bad Jewish folks and bad secular folks.
NORMAN: I cant find the exact link but u can find it on this link….
http://www.scribd.com/doc/7567922/10-Easy-Steps-Refuting-Slander-Against-Prophet-Muhammed-pbuh-Marriage-to-Aisha
LMAO,,,, muslims are worse,,, no christians are worse,,, both of them suck and use their religion for terrible purposes and i’m not talking historicly i’m talkin about right now,,,, Yes SOME muslims use islam to gather terrorist but jeez christians use their religion to control everyones lives you hear way more about christians trying to control things than muslims i,e, abortion, gay marriage, what ever happened to seperation of church and state???
PROOFS FOR COMMENT 134!!!!!
http://www.scribd.com/doc/7567922/10-Easy-Steps-Refuting-Slander-Against-Prophet-Muhammed-pbuh-Marriage-to-Aisha
i like my religion better we believe its wrong to judge someone for what they believe in and just be happy they found their way to god
Matermind – Please stop yelling. Calm reasoned discourse ftw! OK?
It is unfortunate that these folks aren’t a little more vocal/publicized/in the spot light. We mightn’t need a list like this if that was the case.
http://www.centerforinquiry.net/isis/blog/post/SI_Blog/21/The-St-Petersburg-Declaration
@jfrater (147): Yay! Thank you. I feel much better…felt kinda dirty that he was using my name, and I know Travis felt the same. Thanks.
@jfrater (147): You missed number 117. That wasn’t me either.
MOM424: HOW CAN YOU “YELL” ON A COMPUTER. WE MIGHT NOT EVEN BE ON THE SAME CONTINENT BUT YOU SAY I AM YELLING, R U SERIOUS? LOL. IT’S CALLED CAPS LOCK–I THINK YOU HAVE SOME TYPE OF OCD IF IT IS BOTHERING YOU THAT MUCH LOL
It’s entirely irritating mastermind357. Please refrain. and do remember I have earned the flashy colour my posts appear with. Please take the time to read our posting faq – http://listverse.com/comment-faq/ – specifically item 8.
mom424: I will refrain from caps lock if it makes you happier… why??? because that is the “islamic” thing to do.
Thank you for this list. As a Christian living in the Bible Belt, I hear much of the negative views of Islam, and it saddens me that people seek out to destroy what they don’t understand. It would irritate me if the entire world were to view Christianity by only seeing footage of an extremist such as David Koresh, so I do believe that the majority of Muslims aren’t extreme and deserve to worship in their own way.
mom424: ok….. never knew that it offended people, thats my fault.
What about the Islamic judge who just ruled it OK to beat your wife if she spends your money?
mastermind357: No problem, apologies accepted. Besides if you want people to actually pay attention to your comments (at least people who read and think – the only ones that matter imo) and give them any weight whatsoever, it is best not to offend them – unless of course you’re Randall.
Where is the feedback from the people who hate islam???
the age of mary, mother of jesus, was 12 when she married 90 year old joseph!! joseph was forty when he married melcha(escha), they lived forty nine years together and had 6 children… afterwards he would marry mary!
how can a christian slander prophet muhammed after reading the above??
we all have to learn to stop judging everything by modern standards!!!
JJ (150)- Christians do not control abortion or gay marriage. And when a vote is put upon the issues, I will vote for them, even though I am a Christian. But I’m also an American, so I think people should be free to pursue their own happiness. That is where separation of church and state come in…
What about the Islamic judge who just ruled it OK to beat your wife if she spends your money?
last time I checked an islamic judge doesn’t represent a entire religion consisting of about 2 billion followers.
what about the southern christian judges who acquitted numerous kkk members when they lynched and terrorized blacks?
cant blame that on christians or muslims genius.
Interesting article. It is a pity that it contains so many factual errors. Let’s look at a few:
“Ever since they watched it appear on the world stage, Christians never ceased to insult and slander it in order to find justification for waging war on it.”
Perhaps someone could point me to some ancient souce that records anything of the kind, prior to the Moslems attacking the rest of the world, and seizing Palestine, Syria and Egypt? As far as I know, the Christians paid NO ATTENTION to Islam until the Moslems attacked them.
“‘Allah’ means ‘God’, and that even Arab Christians know him by no other name.”
That’s because the Arabic language doesn’t contain another word. But the Arabic-speaking Christians do NOT call God “Allah.” In J.H.Watson’s book, “Among the Copts” is an interview where he asks a Coptic bishop precisely this question; do you worship the same God? He indignantly denies it. Then, switching to *English*, says “I am not a Moslem”. He has to say this in English, because the Arabic language is so hard-wired to Islam that to say the same in Arabic would be equivalent to saying “I am godless.”
“All Muslims are Arabs”.
I doubt this is a “common misconception,” if only because of the number of Pakistani Moslems around.
As for Arabs who are Christians… do they call themselves “Arabs”? The Copts do not, even though they speak Arabic. Again, see Watson on this.
“However, the main difference between Christianity and Islam is that Muslims do not believe that Jesus was God.”
This extended to smashing up his tomb in Jerusalem during the middle ages.
“Islam has always given respect and freedom of religion to all faiths.”
A look at the History of the Patriarchs of the Coptic Church of Alexandria will show how sickening this falsehood is. Look at part 2 of the biography of Cyril ibn Laqlaq (online) for a long and detailed account of how the Copts were discriminated against and persecuted; and this under a tolerant Moslem government which they supported fairly enthusiastically.
“There are many historical examples of Muslim tolerance towards other faith. One such example was when the caliph Umar was ruler of Jerusalem from 634 to 644 AD. He granted freedom to all religious communities and said that the inhabitants of his city were safe and that their places of worship would never be taken away from them. He also set up courts that were designated to the non Muslim minorities.”
Which makes it curious, then, how many mosques were and are churches seized by Moslems. We might point to Hagia Sophia, for instance, or the Italian cathedral in Tripoli today.
Omar also imposed a special tax on all non-Moslems. Curious that this was not mentioned. He didn’t “create special courts for non-Moslems”; he created courts for Moslems, in which the testimony of Moslems would always trump that of non-believers. Again, if you look at the accounts in the contemporary History of the Patriarchs, repeatedly there are examples of how Copts convert to Islam in order to obtain legal advantage.
We might ask how Omar became ruler of Jerusalem. He captured it by violence, of course, from the Christians. It is depressing to see this elided in the smooth words “was ruler”.
“Jihad means to fight for the sake of god…. There are many forms of jihad but the most important ones are … and Jihad bis saif (jihad by using the sword)”.
Indeed so.
“During the crusades when Saladin defeated the franks he honored the defeated Frankish army”
He also executed numbers of their leaders and marched most of them off into slavery.
“There is nothing in Islam that forbids a Muslim woman from exiting her house and is allowed to drive.”
Such an opinion could hardly be stated in Saudi Arabia, so this is not a mainstream Moslem view.
“There is no record in history that shows people being forced by sword point to convert to Islam.”
Islam was certainly spread by violence, and Moslems still use violence to obtain their demands, which include the advancement of Islam. The wording here is somewhat disingenuous, it seems to me. The first Moslems did not try to convert the people they conquered; they just plundered them, set them up as legally inferior, and allowed time and discrimination to do the rest.
Perhaps we might reflect that Moslems never allow Moslems to convert to Christianity. In Egypt today it is illegal, and those who do so do it at the risk of their lives. The sword as an emblem of Islam is entirely justified.
“Muslims are terrorists; This is by far the biggest misconception of Islam, given unfairly by stereotyping and the public image that the media gives.”
I can’t hear you over the sound of suicide bombing.
“Many political dictators and officials or extremist groups use the name of Islam as a strategy to garner followers and attention”
… and other Moslems do not condemn them, and indeed take advantage of this to make further demands, proffer threats of “action”, and so on. The idea that the media discriminates against Islam is curious; political correctness stifles criticism of Islam. If Moslems were not engaged in terror activities all the time, so incessant and so general that even the PC lot cannot deny it — it’s hard to deny it when the bombs are going off on TV before everyone’s eyes — they would never be mentioned negatively at all.
Moslems, it would seem, want to have their cake and eat it too.
Much of these you learn playing Assassin’s Creed! LOL!
FBI Most wanted terrorists list:
http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/terrorists/fugitives.htm
22 out of the 24 in the list are Muslims. you can understand how peaceful that religion is…
@OsvaL (166): That is my favorite game! Which is what got me interested in learning a little more about the area and religion. Funny how that works.
@ mom424/jfrater: Found another one…117 Moonbeam. That’s not from him/her either.
rpearse try to break up your questions into smaller comments, most people are not going to read that. I’ll answer one question per post.
“‘Allah’ means ‘God’, and that even Arab Christians know him by no other name.”
that is definitely true, any christian arab will verify this, hands down! go to google translate and type in God and translate it into arabic, it is Allah. pick up a gideons bible where they have different names of God in different languages.
“almost” everything you say about islam was was at “one time” used by Christianity. However, “popes”, clergy, and the church in general changed things over centuries…
Mike, whats the bigger number, 22 or 1.8 billion? damn, i should have paid attention in math more.
Just got home, when I read the title I thought to myself the s–t is going to hit the fan with this list, but its been pretty average ( excluding a few outbursts )UP UNTIL NOW.
I bet this list hits 220 +
rpearse if you have all the questions, answer this. Jesus spoke aramiac right, how is the word God pronounced in aramiac?
A jewish perspective ^^
Fundamentalists in any religion or ideology are bad, no matter what.
It’s always a few nutcases and psychos who make the rest of us, Christian, Muslim, or whatever, look bad.
Churchill said it best,
“A fanatic is someone who won’t change his mind and can’t change the subject.”
I’m through here. What a load of tripe.
Just thought I’d throw this out here, how many of you actually think a terrorist is right in the head and shares the same beliefs as someone who is of perfect mental health? Point is, an insane Muslim is not going to be the same as a regular Muslim.
Also, I’ve known two people who had close ties to Islam (one was a Muslim, the other’s father was Muslim) and I’ve always heard that terrorists are in the small minority.
Basically, you can’t classify an entire religion with 10 guidelines. People are different, get over it.
You really cant justify having ***** with a 9 year old. And I think there is something weird about worshiping a pedophile, just my 2 cents.
so…who’s worshipping a pedo?
General Tits Von Chodehoffen: Let me guess, your an atheist right? lol
@162, who said: “the age of mary, mother of jesus, was 12 when she married 90 year old joseph!! joseph was forty when he married melcha(escha), they lived forty nine years together and had 6 children… afterwards he would marry mary!”
Could you please produce your sources for this? Last time I checked, nowhere in the New Testament is the age of either Mary or Joseph mentioned or hinted. And that goes for any of those 6 children you state so vehemently that Joseph had.
PAC
PS: And, as I have said before, I’m an atheist. As a matter of fact, I do not believe that there was a christ, a Mary or a Joseph; much less that they were 12 and 90, and that he had 6 children before marrying her.
On the other hand, there are sound historic records indicating that there was a Muhammad, and that he indeed did marry a 6 years old girl and had ***** with her when she turned 9. Furthermore, presently there are Muslim clerics who, using Muhammad as an example of what Allah allows, preach that it is ok for any Muslim man to marry a 9 years old girl.
I hope alot of muslims read this list and learn a bit about there own religion. I’ve been to Iraq and Afghanistan lost alot of good friends and from my personal experiances these aren’t misconceptions but truth
