The ONLY ban I agree with is the Plastic Bag ban, not because I am all “ITS BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT! SO YOU CANT HAVE A PLASTIC BAG!” No Well it is bad for the environment, make no mistake about that. They are over used and thrown away as trash when they are used. And NOT able to break down as easily (they DO break down though) ANYWAY not the point.

It is stuff like spanking your child… Sometimes children need to be spanked. People have been doing it for YEARS!

And the whole smoking thing??? Like really? Are we going to ban the sales of tobacco all together next? People smoke, get over it. I smoke. In places like buildings YEAH! But outside? Really? Just dont be a jerk about it.

And this article forgot one thing. “Burning Of Wood Fires” In Santa Clara County, it is illegal (ON SOME DAYS- quite a few actually) To have wood burning fires. Which is beyond ridiculous because some people do not use their heaters, such as my father. He is a miser in that sense. So it is either a burn night OR we dont have heat at all. His being a miser has gotten to the point where we have NO heat at all. I mean I cannot heat my water bed (even if I offer to pay that small fraction of the bill).
So again as I said it is either a night where we can burn. OR we are cold.

In my house my mom did the spanking, my dad the “talking to”. I don’t remember the spanks, (not all of them), even though I know my mom was really strict. I do remember ( and am more traumatized by) some of the words my dad said to us. Not necessarily bad words, but he had a talent of making us feel subhuman and awful, even as very little girls. A quick slap on the buttis easier to forgive and forget than being called ” egocentric and awful”.

Banning spanking is a bad idea. I may be 14, but I do think spanking can correct a child more than harm them. I may hate getting them from my parents (I let my friends do it if I did something bad and if I deserve or need it since they’re all older than me), but I know that some of them did me good. Just a threat of one would send me into good behavior for at LEAST a week, if not then a month. And once I got one, I would pretty much keep to myself and stay quiet, but that was just to avoid another spanking. And that only lasted for a few days, but I would still watch my actions to behave. Hell, when I have kids, I plan to use it on them, but not to extremes of course. And then once they’re 12, I’ll use grounding and taking away privileges, and only use spanking as a last resort or if the misbehavior is bad enough.

The spanking ban I think should be taken off of Sweden, though with restrictions like Canada. I live in Texas and spanking in schools is legal. Actually, my ex-boyfriend had told me that one of the two elementary schools in Elgin, TX, uses harsh corporal punishment on the kids. They even had it at the middle school! Luckily (though I did misbehave in that place a lot) I never got it, but my math teacher said they probably just fake it and don’t actually hit you.

because landfills are filled with them?
every year I hear that landfills are filled with something different meaning primary fill. A few years ago it was dipers then plastic bottles them bags, ect, ect.
Visit a garbage dump and decide for yourself. I am not a fan of plastic bags, I hate seeing one stuck in a tree like a windsock, but no matter what you choose the replacement may be no better.
reusable totes are being picked on for some such b.s. like chemicals or using 4 to 5 times the plastic of a cheap recycleable bag (if it gets recycled.)
and also being less biodegradable.
