But amphetamines and benzos are all prescribed, no? It doesn't seem fair to leave alcohol out because of its legality. It's highly socially acceptable, but because of that, people really underplay how addictive and dangerous it can be. I'm not trying to preach sobriety or anything. It just bothers me how people talk about "drugs and alcohol" as if alcohol is not a drug. I was addicted to painkillers for a year or so, but that addiction was nowhere near as dangerous as the binge-drinking problem I developed some years later.

The line between legal, semi-legal, and illegal drugs is very blurry. The classifications in the US complicates the issue - marijuana, mushrooms, and heroin are all Schedule 1 drugs, despite the HUGE gulf in harm and potential for addiction. Cocaine and speed are both Schedule II, but the penalty for coke possession is greater than that for speed because cocaine is classified as a narcotic. Meanwhile, benzos are Schedule IV, and that stuff can ruin you as readily as heroin.

Id never tried any illegal drugs till this year which I tried extacy twice.but now looking back its scary that something could have happened to me.i truely beleive that long term effects of using a combination of drugs can cause serious mental problems.my boyfriend a few years ago used a mixture of drugs to deal with his worries and the specialists beleive that the drugs have caused perminant damage to his brain, hes now diagnosed with scitsaphrina and its had deverstating on his life.he was fit and well before hand, shame he didnt deal with his worries differently at the time instead of turning to drugs.hes a lovely person but has down days and for family they are hard to deal with.i urge people to think carefully.x
