My mother-in-law, who is German, has never yet steered me wrong on any kind of wurst ("sausage" to Texans), and she says head cheese is very good. But I agree with your very apt description and SERIOUSLY doubt I'll ever try it.

Besides the fact that something is a misnomer is the whole point of this list. Jeez JFrater, I know why you can't, but just once I'd like to see you reply to these bozos that if they don't like it, don't read it. Or ask them if they would prefer that you started charging for access to this site.

I'm afraid I have to disappoint dre..

I'm from Belgium, and French isn't the main language. More people talk dutch (bigger population in Flanders than in Wallonia). So Dutch isn't just "thrown in".

And indeed, we did invent the delicious french fries! \o/

The photo accompanying your egg roll "fact" is actually of an order of Thai spring rolls. The sauce next to them is mai ploy, a sweet chili past. As others have mentioned, the "egg" part of egg roll is an egg wash applied to the exterior of the doughy wrap. When fried, this adds to the bubbly texture of an egg roll wrapper.

Spring rolls are wrapped in rice paper, and are usually filled with spring vegetables, such as mushrooms. The Thai variety often contain bean thread noodles. When fried, the rice paper wrapper remains smooth, as do the ones in your picture. Egg rolls have a far more varied filling, sometimes including egg.

The reason I generally hate lists like these is that idiots take the whole thing as 100% true, when I'd imagine many of these "facts" are merely recollections of the author. Articles deserve research, and facts deserve citations.
