The weakest list I have come across so far..many of the categories are really sub-categories, and many are not even "modern." Laziness, sitting , getting your own way, escapism, idolization? These didn't exist before? Also in the intro it says that addiction to pornography is not physiological, when in fact when porn addicts watch porn, they release dopamine in much the same way a heroin or a coke addict does. This has been proven with MRI studies.

Getting your way is hardly a modern obsession, nor is the need to always be right. Both have been the primary cause of war for thousands of years, in fact.

George W Bush definitely suffered from Number 8. I liked the Nietzsche reference, BTW. And when all else fails, we can whip the horses' eyes and make them SLEEP and CRY. Jim Morrison may have stated the aforementioned line, but it was inspired by Nietzsche's psychological breakdown in Italy in January 1889 when he witnessed a carriage driver brutally whipping his horse, which went lame. (I suffer from the trivia addiction).

Idolization: remember Beatlemania? Sunspot activity was unusually high back in Feb 1964 when the Fab Four arrived in America. Wonder if that had anything to do with the hype? Quien sabe?

As for the Internet, maybe. Time will tell there.

Laziness? Well, we're fast becoming an entitlement nation so that premise is definitely not far from the mark.

Intriguing list. I always love learning new facts, the more controversial, the better.

Keep plugging on, Listverse. You're becoming an addiction of mine as well.

@Moey (<a href='#comment-250469' rel="nofollow">194</a>): How can you feel "claustrophobic" when your internet breaks down? ...? I'm confused..

I liked this list! I think a lot of people have the obsession with always having to be "right". It gets annoying especially when they KNOW they're wrong, but keep debating. Let it go!

I do enjoy random facts and tidbits as people in with the trivia addiction, as well as the amusement/escapism one. But not to an "addiction extent".
