I don’t see the individual kills being glorified, but the impact that these individuals had upon their enemy. If this disturbs you, I’m sure that you could make a list of “Top 10 Administrative Clerks in History”.

True that, but I think it’s vile to glorify these kills. It’s like glorifying a war itself. U know thinking like “ooh so cool he killed so many people, ooh yeah the shot went right trough the scope”, it’s just a nasty…

Still. No Russian can beat Simo Hauha. He was shooting with iron sight and think about this, he did 705 confirmed kills in less then a 100 days. quite alot ay?

Whoever wrote the lead to this story has NO experience in riflery. Talking about a sniper hitting a target at “400 meters” is emphatically NOT an achievement. When I was in the U.S. Army, basic trainees were taught to hit man-sized targets out to 550 yards with an M14. If you couldn’t, you stood little chance of qualifying as a marksman, much less sharpshooter or expert. The current record is two kills at 1.54 MILES held by a British sniper firing a .338 Lapua Mag. rifle.

Germans are missing from the list, though they did have some successful snipers. Matthäus Hetzenauer for example prevented 345 soviet soldiers from raping their way through Eastern-/ Middle Europe. And he was no SS official, or concentration camp guard committing crimes against humanity.
