Your comment is extremley disrespectful to say about the former President. You (and I) may not agree with his policies during the Presidency but do not blame the President for 9/11. His Presidency was not the cause of 9/11 and to say that it was shows only ignorence on your part. Also if Gore had been President at this time you would have seen him act a whole lot different from his ideals at election time. War changes everyone and thing. Though I dont agre with the war at least Bush tried to make us feel safe in our own country, a hard feat after such a tramatic event. Your disrespect to those who died and the President amazes me.

But you are intitiled to you own opinion as I am mine.

I highly dislike this list. First off the fact that 9/11 was ranked at 9. I believe it should have been higher on the list just by the afffects it had on the United States and around the World. I also agree that the whole of the Civil War should have been on there or perhaps Gettysburg rather then Antietiam. In just 3 days over 50,000 men were dead. Gettysburg is the deadliest battle to have ever taken place on American soil and produced one of the most celebrated speechs in American history. Also I wonder why the Plessy VS. Fergeson case is not on here or shares the spot with the Dred Scot decision. That case made segregation legal and fueled racial hatred. Both cases held back many potientially sucessful and important African Americans and no doubtibly lead to many deaths.

7raul7: You are an idiot.
Al-Qaeda committed the terrorist act on 9/11. They admitted it. Immediately afterwards US intelligence confirmed it.
The Taliban was the political party in power in Afghanistan at that time. They admitted they housed Al-Qaeda and supported their actions.
War should be used as a last resort. This was a last resort. It was clear that the Afghan government was aiding and supporting terrorists. If we did not remove them from power there would be more innocent civilian deaths.

WWII was not a war for money, oil, or politics. It was a war for survival. The Axis powers made it clear they had no issues with killing civilians to see that their evil goals were accomplished. The Japanese killed countless Chinese, Mussolini killed his own countrymen, and the Nazi's conducted countless bombing and missile raids that killed indiscriminately and unnecessarily in many of Europe's cities including London and Rotterdam.

The Japanese made it clear they would fight to the last man. The public was trained to believe the Americans were evil monsters. In the event of an invasion every man woman and child were told to take up arms and fight to the death lest they face a fate worse than death by coming under control of the American scourge. Some US military advisers had estimated 1,000,000 American casualties in an invasion.

The cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima were selected because they contained military factories. If the USA merely wanted to kill there were other cities that had a greater and more dense population.

The USA tried to stay out of WWII for years. We were forced into war through a vile act by the Japanese. By killing civilians the Axis set the rules for engagement. In the end we ended the war according to the terms the Axis had established.

You could have saved time and space by combining 9 and 10 as part of an entry named "George W. Bush steals the 2000 election." Neither probably happens if Gore is elected.

If we're talking about the foreign policy of the USA, I could say that every single day is the worst day ever! This country has launched, caused, financed or and stood behind most global conflicts since WWII! Even before. The American average citizens are far from realizing this, but the fact is that their country is the top criminal country in the world! And the worst part is that they do all this in the name of peace and democracy and human rights! Vietnam, Japan, Iraq, Palestine, Middle east, Afghanistan... All violence eruption in these regions, all the dead bare the brand USA.
