I lived most of my life just one hour from the center of Boston and No.3 (The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum) on the list is for argument's sake to me is the saddest one on this list as I have visited it many times. I was actually there with my girlfriend at the time exactly one week before the heist. Its a magnificent house that Ms. Gardner had built in the Italian Renaissance style. She was very close friends of the American artist John Singer Sargeant and some of his paintings are there. The 3 most significant works that were stolen was a Ver Meer, Rembrandt's "Sea Of Galille", a Degas, and many items from the Ming Dynasty. She lived in the late 19th to early 20th century and was born and married into money. It was during the times when a Rembrandt could be bought for around $5000.00. The one thankful thing about this tragedy was that the robbers did not get away with Titian's "The Rape Of Europa" which is my favorite painting there. The very sad part is when upon going in to visit, the frames of the stolen paintings are still hanging upon the walls and each empty frame has a note card explaining what the painting was and the history behind it. As far as locating the paintings ? It is highly doubtful and are gone forever, that's just my opinion.

I would think that after getting robbed annually, any business would get a better security system for their office space. That is really embarrassing and I'm sure it made their stock go down quite a bit.

To be quite honest these are some amazing heist's.Seriously my favourite has to be the Antwerp one,i would definitely serve a 10 yr prison sentence to come out to $100million+ dollars,i mean the wait would be well worth it you would be set for life. And Leonardos coming out in 2013 so hes done his ten yr sentence and comes out to tht amount of money lucky son of a bitch i admire him though.(PS:Great list of heist's,really enjoyed reading them)
